I use those long narrow plastic sleeves that newspapers are delivered in for all kinds of things.
When I am painting I slip one over the roller if I have to stop for an hour or so. I put paint brushes in them, too.
They are the perfect size for picking up after the pups. Stick your hand down inside, pick up the poop and turn it inside out for a never touch cleanup.
When packing I can put a shoe in the larger Sunday size. I use them in place of the more expensive zipper bags. If flying, don’t tie the top in a knot, use twisties.
This tip comes from my reader Wendy…
When my son was born, I bought plastic bags from Wal-Mart to eliminate odors from wet/dirty diapers that were thrown in the trash. I’ve since started saving and using bread, bun, and cereal bags. They are the perfect size and work just as well as the scented ones from the store, and better than plastic grocery bags. Plus…they’re FREE!!!

For the people who don’t reuse the bags from their newspapers, you can also save them and give them back to your carrier. Most carriers have to pay for their own bags and supplies so you’re also helping them out

We bought a pooper scooper for the yard that uses the plastic walmart type bags and we love that thing. I also use them as bathroom trash can liners and put them in my little ones bag for accidents. They always go to the pool with us for wet clothes and towels.

My friend’s mom crochets them in to rugs/door mats. She separated the colors and will actually may a design or all solid color. The idea is when it wears out throw it away, but we had one forever before it ever showed any wear.

I reuse plastic grocery bags as wastebasket liners and paper grocery bags to wrap and ship packages.

I reuse plastic grocery bags for wastebasket liners.

I reuse plastic bags for many things. I tie them to my dogs’ leashes and use them to pick up waste on walks/hikes. I use them as wet bags & trash bags (on the go) and for smaller trash cans around the house. I pack them with me when traveling to separate dirty/clean clothes. I even use them as packaging stuffing/protectors when I ship things.
