If you get an electronic device wet (like a phone, camera or iPod), take the battery and back off of it and insert all the pieces in a bowl of rice. Make sure you cover the device completely. The rice will pull the moisture out of the device and you might just get lucky and it will still work!
Just make sure you leave it in the rice anywhere from 1-7 days. Don’t try turning it on until you feel comfortable that it is completely dried out. Good luck!

Did this with a phone once and it still worked. I also learned never to answer “yes” without knowing exactly what I was agreeing to — I had my phone in the bathroom (waiting for a call that didn’t come) while giving my son a bath. When I was drying him off & rinsing off the tub toys, he asked me, “Can I wash this?” I thought he had a tub toy in his hand so I said yes — and then I saw my phone dunked in the water.

I just had to do this last week! It really does work. I gave my 1 year old my cell phone to play with while we were shopping, and when i looked down he had covered the whole phone is slobber! I came home and put it in rice overnight and the next morning it worked like nothing had happened. Lesson learned…..phones are not for entertaining toddlers.

I had read about this a while ago and then it happened. My Husband went swimming in the pool with his phone…. for like 20 minutes. We came home, put it in rice for a week and it worked. Its a great trick. I then reused the rice and made rainbow rice as a texture toy for my Daughter to play with. So much fun!

I dropped my iPod touch in the toilet after having it for three days. I googled what I should do and found this method. I wrapped a paper towel over the bottom of it (where the plugs go) and secured it with a rubber band so the rice wouldn’t get inside of it. I left it for a week and it worked fine!!
