This tip comes from my One Frugal Mommy…
If your kids are starting to get independent and want to wash their own hair (like mine!), here’s a great tip. Take an old medicine cup and pour in the amount of shampoo they need to use. This will cut down on them wasting shampoo and hopefully prevent you from slipping in the tub if you bathe after they do. (hehe)
Do you have any other tips on saving on kids shampoo? I previously posted about putting kids shampoo in a pump type bottle and teaching them that they only use 1-2 pumps for their hair.

We refill the lysol automatic hand soap dispenser with hair/body wash it gives the kids just the right amount of soap :)
How do you refill the Lysol dispensers? I would love to know so I can use them again without buying those expensive refills!
I just a knife and pry off the cap and just refill the soap. It snaps right back on.
That’s how we do it :)
It may not be for everyone but my 16 yo saves me lots on shampoo. He does the “no-poo” method. Washes with baking soda and rinses with vinager and water. His hair is so nice and soft. Love it!
When my kids were younger I would wrap a rubberband under the pump section of hand soap and shampoo to limit the amount they could use. They knew they only got 1 or 2 pumps, but this slowed down how much actually came out too.
These are great ideas. My daughter is 8 and always has a hard time pouring the shampoo and conditioner herself. Thanks!
When my son was younger, he put too much shampoo in his hair and couldn’t wash it out properly. Suave sells an inexpensive shampoo/body wash for kids, I would put a small amount in an old foaming shampoo pump (like Kandoo) and fill the rest with water, shake it up and it was great for him, he used it all over his body and hair. I do the same with hand soap, your just paying for them to water the soap down for you!
Great idea!
