This is the crowd at 8:41 am. Still plenty of elbow room.

Amanda says
Having fun living through you and your family’s Disney trip! Can’t wait till we can get there again…hopefully soon!
Melody says
Looks a little warm. Hope you are having a fun trip.
Sarina Jackson says
Looks alittle crowded to me but I guess as the crowd starts to spread out through the park its probably much better than the crowds we usually see arriving around 10 each day.
Karen A says
I have never seen a rope drop. One day though, it will happen!
JenniFer L. says
I’m thinking the reason I’m enjoying following you is because so far I would do exactly what your family does. Up early, nap (not me I would be to excited), swim, watch fireworks and play some more.
Christina says
The weather looks gorgeous! I’ve never been to MK (or any park for that matter) at rope drop but for some reason I am really feeling it for our next trip. Hopefully I can get the rest of my party to feel the same way! lol
Stacy E says
Looks like a beautiful day! You guys get up so early. Hope I can motivate myself to get up when we go:)
Marla says
Can’t wait to see my little one’s face when we go to Disney in a couple of months. He is so into Mickey right now!
diane says
We only made rope drop at animal kingdom :) It was great!
Nancy says
My kids are early birds, so I am hoping that works to our advantage for once when we are at Disney! I cannot think of another time where I would actually WANT to be awake at 5am!!
Heidi S. says
I love the idea of doing MK in the early morning, taking a break and then choosing another park for the afternoon/evening. It is probably the only way you can have enough stamena for the entire 12 days!
Leigh @ Spoiled...but Not Rotten says
I have never made a rope drop either (at least as an adult). I hope to do so at our next trip.
shirley says
Looks like a GREAT start for your day, HAVE FUN.
Michelle says
We always go first thing in the morning too when the crowds are light and then take a rest in the afternoons when the parks are crazy. We always get a lot more accomplished that way.
maggie moore says
No way it will be like that in 3 weeks after school gets out! We should be there now! :-)
Carrie Atkinson says
Wow! You are up EARLY! It seems like that might be the best way to go- good to know for our trip in August!
Anna D. says
I didn’t know rope drop existed until I read your blog. Hopefully I can get Husband and Daughter up to attend on our Disney trip.
Thrisha says
I have to get there that early! I never can get my husband up and moving before 8:30 AM. Maybe next time I will leave him there and just take the little one.
Ann Marie says
Tami,
Generally we don’t make rope drop but shortly there after as the lines in Fantasyland are short, short, even when we went over Spring Break. Most days we stay all day, and have been known to stay until closing or there abouts depending on the kiddos demeanor. I have 7, 5, 5 and 3 year olds. Generally one of the 5 year olds and the 3 year old will nap in the double stroller, while me and the other 5 year old “people watch” somewhere shady and my husband and oldest go ride Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain as many times as their hearts desire. We have just as much fun doing that sometimes as the rides, ha! Me and my lil’ guy just love to people watch , meet new people and offer handy tips to some! There is usually a snack involved at this time as well. Many days we have planned to come back mid-day and “rest”, hang out at the pool or what have you and we don’t end up doing it as the kiddos are having so much fun.
Dawn says
Rope drop at Magic Kingdom is the best. It is magical to see the characters arrive on the train and then countdown to opening. Once inside it’s great to beat the crowds to the big attractions!
Ann Marie says
So I’m curious, they shut down Pooh’s Playful Spot….is it boarded up or what? I can’t remember what they are putting in that area but I know it’s part of the expansion.
amber says
you MUST get some carrot cake from main street bakery if you go back there! its THE BEST!
Tabitha says
How’s the weather down there. It’s been hot and MUGGY back home. Like late July humidity. Ugh. I walked to the mailbox yesterday and almost died. I was dripping with sweat when I got back in the house. Hope it’s better for you down there!
Barb says
We love rope drop at Magic Kingdom!! We bust out rides quick and with little to no wait.
Tami, my kids are usually so excited to get up early and the possibility of not having to stand in line so much sounds good to them. We go back for a nap around 1-2pm and then go back around 5pm. They’re in bed by 10-11pm.
Michelle Nelson says
You look like you have had a wonderful time so far. Cannot wait to hear more! The kids look like they are having so much fun and that makes everything worth it
Tami says
How do you manage to get your kids up and moving so early in the morning and not have them crabby mid-afternoon? Do you go back for naps in the middle of the day or just turn in early at night?
tryna says
looks like you picked a great week to be there – you practically have the place to yourself every morning
Bryan says
Looks like its a Sunny and not morning for the opening of Magic Kingdom, but small early morning crowad should equal more attractions. :)
David says
I’ve always wanted to be at Magic Kingdom at rope drop. We’ve never quite made it yet. One day though, one day
