I don’t know about you guys, but when I travel, I don’t like to stop for anything other than potty breaks- and even then it’s a “Go, Go, Go” situation. I want to get where I am going as fast as I can, and that doesn’t involve 30 minutes wasted at a fast food restaurant. This $1 trick has saved my sanity in so many ways!
Check your local Dollar Tree or grab a caddy from Target for $2 (it’s $3 in the dollar spot, but $2 online! Go figure)- it doesn’t really matter where you get it, because once you have it, you have the most amazing lunch or dinner car tray ever! Back to school is a fantastic time to find these, they can be scarce during the year.
The two smaller sections work perfectly to hold fries and a drink- a small cup from McDonald’s fits in there, or put in a juice box and have plenty of room leftover for apple slices!
The larger section fits a box of nuggets, a hamburger, a cheeseburger- whatever you need it to hold! It’s nice because it also helps catch crumbs and gives the kids a place to put down their food. Plus, if there is a sudden stop or turn, everything is together in one package- they don’t save the nuggets but miss the fries and end up with a mess.
I can stuff a few napkins in the container to minimize how many times I have to turn around and hand her something, which my back thanks me for- plus, when she’s finished she can hand up the caddy and I can easily clean up. No more piecemeal handing up of a half full bag of fries, one apple slice, a half closed box of nugget crumbs, or a ketchup covered burger wrapper- it’s all there in the caddy, where I can see it before I end up with a hand covered in ketchup or a car covered in salt and fry crispies.
