I thought this was a timely tip, as folks are having trouble find cleaning products! Vinegar is a magical cleaning agent and something folks who are trying to reduce their chemical use swear by. Did you know a paste of white vinegar and baking soda can dissolve red wine stains? It can! Vinegar is delightfully cheap and comes in large sizes. Just be careful about using vinegar on marble, as the acidity can be too much. Just be aware, vinegar is not a proven disinfectant, so while it can get out stains, clean built up gunk and shine up stainless steel, I’m not suggesting this will solve all your cleaning needs.
Here are a few starter cleaning recipes:
All Purpose Cleaner:
- White Vinegar
- Citrus peels
Fill a jar 2/3 full with vinegar. Toss in your citrus peels and then put your lid on. Let the citrus peels sit for at least a week. Fill your spray bottle with 1:1 vinegar mixture and water. Use as you would any household cleaner!
DIY Window Cleaner:
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 cup white or cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol 70% concentration
- 1-2 drops of citrus essential oil for smell (optional)
Mix together and put in your own spray bottle! For mirrors, spray a soft cloth or paper towel and then wipe.
