I am so excited!!!
I will be there the same week and am SUPER excited!
Akershus has mostly normal food. The buffet is Norweigan. Thankfully for the kids, American Fare is delivered to your table., The princesses are fabulous and the pic w/ Belle is complementary, yes. Tusker house is our fave b/c the food is delicious, crepes, fruit, the regulars, plus super delicious breakfast ham and an incredible selection of breads and pastries. Enjoy every bite. I read somewhere that WDW food has no calories.
The one me and my family does every time is the hoop de do musical revue at the wilderness, its a great show and dinner
We are going in Sept. and I am having so much trouble choosing between all of the different restaurants! So far we have this booked
Chef Mickeys (Dinner)
Cinderella’s Castle (Dinner)
Sci-Fi (Dinner)
Liberty Tree (Dinner)
How did you make your reservations?
1900 Park fare was our favorite and we have done alot! You’ll love it!
ours too!! although I LOVE Yak & Yeti in animal kingdom!
Was just dreaming about Disney, Disney food and our reservations coming up in September. Can’t wait!!!! And we are eating at the Akershus for dinner for the first time. Excited. I would have probably chosen somewhere else, but we have a granddaughter into that and how can we be disappointed based on that alone :-)
We are going to be at Disney at the same exact time! We, myself, husband and two boys (10 and 12) are celebrating my 40th Birthday (November 9th) at Disney! I am thrilled to say that though we shoot for a Disney vacation every year, and have been blessed to have fond memories for the last six years, I found your website in January and this is our first “Couponing to Disney” trip! I check your blog every day and enjoy using your tips to help my family save money! Who knows maybe I will run into you during our trip and can treat your family to a Mickey ice cream bar or Dole whip for helping cut our grocery bill by 75% this year!
We will be there from Oct 22 – 29 and also will be princessed out!!!! We have booked Breakfast’s at Tusker House, Cinderella’s Royal Table, Hollywood Vine and DIne, and Chef Mickey’s. Lunches only booked one so far at Sci-Fi Dine IN. Dinners are Planet Hollywood, 1900 Park Fare, and Whispering Canyon. So you recommend Crystal Palace? I have a 4 year old girl and 8 year old boy and I was afraid it was too babyish for my son. Thanks for all your inside information!!!!!!
The Halloween Party is booked as well as Princess and Knight make-overs as my children call it!
my boys were 10, 8, 7, and 2 when we went and they all liked the crystal palace. My (then) 7 year old LOVES Cinderella and so when he chose his meal he chose 1900 park fare. I am so happy he did! Cinderella paid extra attention to our table since we were the only one there with a table with NO little girls at it! And my son even got the first waltz with Cinderella. The Step sisters are soooo funny, and the food I think was some of the best on our trip!
we are going december 18-29 staying at pop century for the first time! the only thing we have definately reserved (our 180 days isn’t here yet!) is mickey’s very merry christmas parade on the 18!! we just made it for the last date and couldn’t be more excited! we are planning on BBB for christmas day (the little miss is so happy!), breakfast at akershus one day, the wishes fireworks package one day, and the little miss will find her inner pirate while enjoying the pirate’s league experience one day! thank goodness we will be there 10 days!! we love going for christmas! it is our favorite holiday, and the parks are beautiful! plus, we got a PIN from disney, so our trip is costing us next to nothing for a family of 4!
I know PINs are exclusive to the person they sent it to, but are you able to share what your PIN covered? Like 40% off of your booking, or free something or other? Also, did you do anything special/different to increase your chances of getting a PIN?
We’re planning our first trip to Disney for my son’s 5th bday (in Jan) and I’m a little confused about character meals. If we have the dining plan do they accept the credit off od our plan or do we need to pay for these meals separately?
Also are you allowed to go back and forth from your base ticket park to the resort without using a park hopper pass? Or do you have to have the pass to be able to do that?
My brain has been on Disney overload the past few days lol I have 10084984 questions going on non stop at the moment and your site has been a really great help!
The dining plan is super easy!! All of the character meals are cover on the plan, you just have to know how many credits they cost (i.e. Cinderella’s Royal Table costs 2 meals off your plan, but Crystal Palace is only 1 meal off the plan). You won’t have to spend anything out of pocket (except for tip, if you choose). I love the dining plan and won’t go without anymore!
Your base ticket only allows for one park per day, so if you have your meal in Magic Kingdom you’ll only be able to play in Magic Kingdom. But if you get the park hopper you can spend the day in Epcot and have your dinner in Magic Kingdom, if you want. You don’t need a park hopper pass to go to different resort hotels to eat though. I hope that helps, if not, keep asking questions! This blog is a great resource to bounce ideas off of seasoned Disney travellers!
Sounds like an awesome plan. I do have to say we really enjoyed Chef Mickey’s for breakfast. We went for rope drop at MK and then took the monorail to the Contemporary Resort for breakfast reservations at 11. Since they close for lunch it was towards the end of breakfast so everyone was leaving. That gave us extra special time with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, and Goofy. The boys loved it!
Any word yet on a 40th Anniversary celebration? I am staying an extra day for Oct1 hoping they do something
We have our dining reservations booked too! We are booking resort at the end of June {praying they extend free dining} we will be staying sept25-oct2.
-Akershus for dinner
-Boma for dinner
-Yak and Yeti for dinner
-O’Hana for Breakfast
-O’Hana for dinner {our fave}
-1900 Park Fare for dinner
Headed there after Thanksgiving. We have Chef Mickey’s ,50’s Dinner, Boma’s and T-Rex. Plus, we are doing the 4 day cruise on the Dream. I will need to do all the walking I can :)
We’re going in October as a surprise to our boys for their birhtdays!! We’ll be going to Tusker House (brkfst), O’hana (brkfst), Chef Mickey (brkfst), Crystal Palace (lunch), Les Chefs de France (dinner), 50’s Prime Time Cafe (dinner) & Whispering Canyon (dinner)……..we’ve only ever been to Chef Mickey before so we’re super excited!!!
My question is, has anyone heard if or when they’ll be offering free dining in October?
patiently waiting, lol
my mom told me to hold off on booking resort reservations as long as possible to see if they extend. She said if we book then the more people that book the less chance they will extend.
We will be there from Nov 2-9. We will be dining at Crystal Palace, Tusker House, Chef Mickey’s, Sci-Fi, Tutto Italia and I am hoping to get a ressie for Hoop Dee Doo, but I’m not holding my breath !! Are you going to Mickey’s Christmas Party ? We have been before and they are so fun !!!
We decided not to do Mickey’s Christmas Party because it would be almost $400 for the 6 of us (my family plus Mother in law and nephew) to go! :-O
we are doing Halloween party, is it worth it? I am excited about it but dont know anyone who has done it
I would do the Halloween party. It looks like a ton of fun!
I loved the Halloween party much more than the Christmas party. Make sure you take advantage of the special party events. The special parade is one of my favorites!
The Halloween party is the best! Candy stations everywhere which spreads the crowds out better. We went to almost all the events last year and the Halloween party and the night of joy are the best.
LOve th Halloween party. It was a lot of fun.
My hubby and I are heading to the World July 15-20. We also have reservations at Akershus, Sci-Fi, and Tuskar House. We are eating dinner at Akershus and Tuskar House. Do they have decent dinners? I’m worried now because you said breakfast food was “normal”. Is dinner not normal? HELP!
You can see menus on WDW.com and allears.net. There is all a WDW Dining App with Menus.
i heard Akershus is great!
I just looked at the menu on allears.net, and it sounds yummy! What’s up with the kids’ menu, though? I guess I’ve never read a Disney menu before, and I expected better. I hate when restaurants put the same ol’ boring stuff on the kids’ menu. I would prefer that they create kid-friendly versions of food that goes with the theme of the restaurant.
We LOVED the Akershus dinner! The pork chops were amazing!!
We loved Sci Fi Diner! Feels like you are really at an old drive in theater!
And the food is awesome!
We are going October 29th – November 5th! We will just miss you! I definitely need to get on the ball with dining reservations! Do they ever come out with free dining during this time of year? I have been kind of anticipating it.
I just got an email for free dining, but it was based on when you were booking and staying. So maybe you will receive one too! I think it was for a 5 or 6 night trip. It came in my Disney Rewards e-mail.
when was your free dining offer for?
Thanks madonna! I will keep my eyes open for it. I am constantly on the lookout for those emails!
Did you recently get your email? I’ve been hoping to see one pop up for October 2011….
Try Crystal Palace for lunch sometime. It is our favorite meal at WDW!!! Also, if you are on the dining plan, Akershus is two credits. They switched it shortly before we went last year and did not inform us about it. I am not sure if it is listed that way now or not. Just wanted to give you a heads up.
I had some friends that ate there in May and it was only 1 dining credit for them.
I’ve done them all too~! What fun to get them booked.
We are going to Akershus for breakfast on our upcoming trip and I just wish Disney would add Rapunzel to Akershus or Cinderella’s breakfast. I heard the line to meet her and Flynn is crazy long!
I agree!! We went in early February (which is suppose to be the slow time), and the line for Rapunzel and Flynn was over an hour!! So we skipped it, which was a bummer because my daughter wore her Rapunzel dress for Bibbity Boppity Boutique and we wanted a picture with her in her dress with Rapunzel….guess we’ll just have to go back now! We loved doing Akershus though….it’s the only way to go to get all your princess autographs!
We were there in late March and the line was over 3 HOURS the first day we approached it! So then we found out that it is not your standard meet and greet line – they only let about 20 kids in at one time, then Rapunzel and Flynn come out and dance with them around the table, talk to them and then meet on an individual basis. They schedule these at specific time increments through the day and the wait depends on whether you have hit the right place in line or not. The second time we went to the line, we were told that it would be a 2 hour-plus wait, but the kids wanted so badly to see them…so we traded off in shifts with one parent waiting in line while the other took the kids to get a fastpass for later in the day or ride on some short-line rides. It worked out ok and the pictures turned out awesome…but be ready for the wait. I would LOVE if they would move her to Akershus!
I went with my daughter in March and the park opened at 8 and the first meet and greet with Rapunzel was at 9:15. We got in line as soon as we got to the park around 8:30 and my daughter had a great time. We took our breakfast and some postcards to write and enjoyed the fact that the line was in the shade at that time of day! When it opened, my daughter was lucky enough to stand next to and hold Rapunzel’s hand while they played games. By the time we had our pictures taken it was around 9:45. All told, it was worth it! But I agree, we would love to meet her with the other princesses!
You just helped me make my final ADR decision! We are going in Oct. and I’ve got all of mine made but one and was deciding between Cape May Cafe and 1900 Park Fare for dinner! I’m going w/ 1900 since it was on your list!!! ha
Sounds good. I love Disney’s food. Good we do all of that walking to make up for all of the food we eat!
Have done them all! Crystal Palace has to be the yummiest breakfast I’ve had in WDW, 4 words-Pooh’s puffed french toast :) The strawberry soup at 1900 Park Fare is delish and the stepsisters will have you laughing out loud! Have fun!
We got breakfast at Akershus, Crystal Place and Tusker House all before the parks open!
I loved going to MK last year before the park opened. Made for the best pictures in front of the Castle.
I already booked Cinderella’s Royal Table for 8:10am! I decide agaist Tucker House so early and did it at 10:10.
We ate breakfast at Akershus when we went last year; it was really good. The food was served family style and there was also a buffet of cold items. We used the Deluxe Dining Plan and Akershus is only one meal credit but you get a photo with the princess INCLUDED, much like at Cinderella’s Royal Table but one less meal credit you have to use. We ate at all of these places too except Sci Fi; my husband loved Tusker House the most! Reading these is making me jealous and anxious to start planning our trip next fall!!!
