The Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom is a 9 minute boat ride through the 17th century when Pirates plundered seaport towns. Your boat will travel through the Pirates Grotto which is home to the Dead Man’s Cove, The Fort where you will be in the middle of a battle between the Caribbean Fort and Captain Barbossa, the Town Square where pirates try to auction off the fair maddens, the Burning City where the buccaneers sing as the city goes down in the flames, the Dungeon where pirates try to convince the dog to give over the keys to set them free and finally Jack Sparrow celebrating in the treasure room. This attraction was so popular and well loved that it spawned the Pirates of the Caribbean film series.

- Check for wet seats before you sit down.
- If your kid is afraid to ride, get them to help you spot animals during the ride. There is a dog, cat, donkey, chickens, etc.
- Look for the mermaid skeleton on the island in the boat.
- The entire lock in the jail scene is a Hidden Mickey.
- There are great photo opps in the gift shop after you exit the ride.

I think it’s very appropriate that Disney NOT add more characters from the movies.
Since it was the ride that inspired the films-not the other way around. I say leave it just with Capt Jack and that’s enough.
This ride is not handicap accessible!! If you have a person in an electric scooter they have to leave it outside before getting in line and get a push wheelchair and wheel through the tiny line area and leave the chair before getting onto the ride and pick up after the ride is over.
As the biggest fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, I have to say something. The ride is fantastic! But since all of Pirates of the Caribbean films have almost released, (besides Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales! 2017!!!) it’s my belief that I think the Pirates of the Caribbean ride needs to update their graphics, decor, animatronics and the set, because when people ride this ride, they want the same experience like they had when they watched the original film, and the second, and the third, and the fourth! Since they have added Edward Teach(Blackbeard), Davy Jones, CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow, Captain Hector Barbossa and the mermaids, There’s NO ONE said that you can’t add Elizabeth Swann, Will Turner, James Norrington(my favorite), some of Davy Jones’ crew, the Royal/British Navy, even throw in Lord Cutler Beckett, Tia Dalma(Calypso) and Angelica! Heck even add in a scene where Davy Jones plays his organ, just like the scene in the ride in Shanghai Disneyland! Now this is just what I think, not saying that you have to tear down the ride because of me, I’m just questioning if you have the Pirates of the Caribbean films, and the some of the popular characters already added to the ride ,why not add all of the characters from the films! Also, this is my opinion, in the scene of the ride where Barbossa and the Wicked Wench are attacking and bombing the Spanish Island, I understand that Disney is trying so hard to make that scene similar to the film, the Curse of the Black Pearl, and they have, they succeeded, but make it more similar, add the one and only Black Pearl, and replace it with the Wicked Wench, even though the Wicked Wench and the Black Pearl are the same ships. Now that would bring a huge “Cheshire-like smile” to guests faces!
As a previous cast member of Pirates of the Caribbean, I wanted to correct a few “tips” you gave. There is no rider switch option because small children are allowed on the ride. There is also no flash photography allowed, even in well-lit scenes. Cheers, mate :)
I fixed it, thank you!
When you exit the ride into the gift shop, look on top of a shelf on the right wall, on a vase is an actual pirate medallion used in the movie.
Disney always adds things to rides throughout the years but this one in particular! I go to disney atleast once a year, I love it and it’s my go to for vacation. Each time I go something is added or changed in the ride. The exit after jail changes a lot and some other little scenes. I’ve never noticed the mickeys but jack is hidden too(: I will be checking for Mickey in all of the rides from now on haha
We went two weeks ago and my nephews loved this ride. They loved the free treasure hunt afterwards too! After you exit the gift shop go to the left and look for a hut with treasure maps. The kids can go on a treasure hunt around that area. The kids loved figuring out where the next struture was and ooking for them and then waving a key like thing in front of the structure to hear it talk or see something happen. In the end they actually find the treasure!
