Pirates of the Caribbean opened at Disneyland Resort in 1967 and has been a guest favorite ever since. Originally this attraction was set to be a walk through with wax figures. However, after the 1964 New York World’s Fair success with the Audio-Animatronics used in Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, plans changed. Instead he thought of a pirate adventure to engage guests. This attraction is said to be one of the most immersive theme park attractions ever created.
