Did you know there is a special meal to be had at Restaurantosaurus? On select nights you can make an Advanced Dining Reservation and enjoy a gourmet burger and sundae bar!
You get the opportunity to choose from 6 hand-crafted burgers, a chicken sandwich, veggie burger or a salad, while side dishes include French fries and onion rings with a house-made dipping sauce or a side salad. Then, you get TWO scoops of your choice of ice cream flavor, and a trip to the build your own sundae bar!
This seems to be a hidden gem, as the dining room was nearly empty when we checked in for our reservation. If you’re on the dining plan, this only costs 1 quick-service credit, making this quite a deal at $22.99 per adult and $14.99 per child! You receive a non-alcoholic beverage, entree, side and of course- dessert!
When you walk into the restaurant, there will be a podium to the side of the entry doors. If you don’t see it, a Cast Member can direct you there. After checking in you are handed a menu to browse- that’s right, our very own special menu. You can check out all the offerings here. We were also each given a ticket for ice cream after our meal.
After you place your order at the dedicated register, you are ushered to a separate seating area. That’s right, no dining with the riff-raff here, you get your own special dining area! Each table is covered with a sheet of paper and features a bucket of crayons and dinosaur themed stencils. This was wonderful, my daughter was able to doodle while she waited, which meant I didn’t have to listen to her whine about when the food was going to come.
You get your own drinks (and refills) and we were able to choose from sodas, hot chocolate, lemonade and more! By the time we had our drinks and ran to the restroom to wash hands, our food was ready- and delivered to the table! It was definitely hot and even the sides were fresh. This was starting out promising!
I chose the Pulled Pork Barbecued Burger, with a half order of onion rings and a half order of fries. My burger was excellent! While I’m not sure I’d call it gourmet by actual gourmet standards- there are far better burgers at “real” restaurants all across America, but it was one of the better theme park beef patties, topped with cheese, lean pulled pork, a tasty bottled sauce and onion rings. Oh my the onion rings. I wish I’d gone for a full order of those for my side. They were crispy and delicious, while the fries were all right, but nothing to write home about. They weren’t offensive, but I ended up leaving most of them in the basket, knowing I had an ice cream voucher for later.
Tim went with the Sunny-side Up burger. You can see those long, thick slices of bacon, an egg with a nicely runny yolk (ew, but he loves it) and cheese that top the burger. He also opted for the half and half side. Much like me, he preferred the onion rings to the fries. His burger was nicely put together and he popped out with several “mmmms” as he chewed. This is a nicer version of your typical theme park burger and the premium toppings make it an excellent dining experience.
Miss Bongo opted for nuggets with a side of fresh fruit. She devoured the fruit, but the nuggets were pretty standard and she only ate a few of those. No worries, it did come with the signature bucket and pail as well.
At last, we had finished eating and we still had dessert to get to! Oh my goodness. We got to choose from several flavors of hand scooped ice cream and you could get two scoops of the same or two different. I choose chocolate and cookies and cream after turning in my voucher, then headed to the loaded toppings bar!
Don’t be shy, you can get anything you want! I loaded up on maraschino cherries, because they are a personal favorite of mine. I also got a few bits of waffle cone, expecting it to be soft or stale. Instead it was crispy and delicious. I seriously regretted not loading up on more. Don’t forget the hot fudge and a dollop of whipped cream. Oh, and I got a ridiculous amount of crushed oreo too. Mmmm. Miss Bongo also made me get some Mickey head sprinkles. I’m not really a sprinkles on my ice cream person, but it made her happy.
This was far more food than we needed- I don’t think any of us made it halfway through our sundaes, but it was a lot of fun. It was nice to have a quieter place to eat and the burgers were quite good, fresh and hot! The sundae bar was a big hit and it’s a nice opportunity to make your own dessert exactly the way you want it. None of us did it exactly the same way- and it was wonderful.
