Planning a day in the Magic Kingdom? Here is my favorite touring plan for my family (kids ages 12, 9 and 2):
Book Fastpass+ for Big Thunder Mountain 10:15 – 11:15, Splash Mountain 11:15 – 12:15 and Seven Dwarfs for 12:15 – 1:15 PM.
Arrive to the parking lot by 7:45 AM. Take the ferry to the Magic Kingdom. (If you are staying on site, make sure you are at your resort’s bus stop by 7:30 AM).
Enter the park and line up on the left side of the castle near the left side of the stage. This is a path that will be opened as soon as the welcome show is over.
Once allowed into the park at 9 AM, head straight to Fantasyland.
Ride in the following order:
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Dumbo
- Barnstormer
- Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid
- Haunted Mansion
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Aladdin’s Magic Carpet
- Use Fastpass for Big Thunder Mountain
- Use Fastpass for Splash Mountain
- Lunch at Pecos Bill
- Ride it’s a small world
- Use Fastpass for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (make sure you book another Fastpass+ while waiting in the line)
By this point it should be about 12:30 PM in the afternoon! Hope you had fun!

Do you have any tips for riding rides during the Christmas season. Our original trip was Xmas 2018 but my husband broke both his legs 5 days before we where scheduled to leave. Disney graciously changed our trip to Xmas 2019. Obviously I’m excited to still get the opportunity to Bucket List Disney World for Xmas BUT, the whole 2018 Xmas trip was to avoid Star Wars opening. We wanted to come back in a few years to let the Star Dust settle.
Did you happen utilize the Rider Swap since you had your 2 year old with you?
This doesn’t work anymore. No matter what day/time I put in for the fast pass, it says there are no fast pass times available for the seven dwarfs mine train and the wait time for everything has been 90-120 minutes. We have only been able to ride 3 rides by 12:30. If you aren’t the first in line for Peter Pan or whatever ride you choose first, you will only get on 2 rides by 12:30.
The refresh button is your best friend. We have always gotten on everything.
Just followed this for our September Break trip. I was shocked, but it totally happened!!! We subbed Ariel’s Adventure for one ride, but other than that it was the best game plan I’ve ever used!
I want to try this so badly, but I think my husband would kill me for dragging him around that quickly!
Thank you!
How long did you have to wait for the Pirates of the Carribbean ride when you went in that order? I was thinking of doing it first but now I’m considering following your list. Thoughts?
This worked so well for us first timers to Disney!!!! Thanks so much!! My husband was skeptical at the start but was amazed at the end
Thank you so much, this worked so well. We arrived early and beat the crowds! Had a fabulous time!
Do you have one day iteniaries for the other Disney parks?
How are the line around the 4-9 of November
Will this work 2nd week in June?
We modified this for our trip in July (crowd level 4 day). We had a 8:10 Be Our Guest reservation. We got in line for Peter Pan’s flight right after, then went to the Carousel, Mad Tea Party, Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo, and had an 11:00AM Fast Pass at Barnstormer. We had planned to go to Pete’s Silly Sideshow then to our FP, but we had to wait for the Sideshow to open. Our itinerary ended at 10:45!
This is a great plan. My husband and I were happyto get on rides right away, then soak Magic Kingdom in. We will use the word-for-word plan when we go again and they’re tall enough for it all!
This is definitely doable! We just went during spring break which happened to be the week before Easter. We were able to get 11 attractions done by 12:30. If you have a general plan and utilize your fast passes, you can do everything you want. We didn’t stay on site so I had to keep checking for better fast passes. A lot opens up the week before you go.
I have hard time seeing this happen unless you pick a time of year with little to no crowds and plenty of pixie dust!
Hello, what times did you make your 3 fast pass reservations for? I will be going to Disney this coming August. Thanks!
Will this work on Christmas Day? I will not be staying on site. Magic Kingdom have early hours for on-site guest?
Do you think this plan is feasible in the summer months with heavy crowds?
Will this work during perks season?
I so wish I would’ve seen this before we went to Disney!!!
Great plan, I will definitely be trying this out for my trip in November! My only question is what is the reason for arriving so early before rope drop?
To get ahead of the tons of people who will be waiting there.
You have to go thru bag check and security, then turnstile, and it all takes awhile. Being first behind the rope is the difference between walking into Peter pan without a wait versus a 30 minute wait if you got there 10 min later. Vs a 60-90 minute wait later in the AM
Aren’t 7D and Big Thunder both tier one attractions?
There aren’t any tiers in Magic Kingdom!
