There are 4 rides in Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom. Frontierland is themed after the American Old West of the 19th century and features rustic paths along the Rivers of America. In this land, don’t be surprised to see Cowboys manning the shops, antlers used as decor or characters outfitted in western attire. You might even be able to catch the Frontierland Hoedown or the Notorious Banjo Brothers and Bob during your visit to this land.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad whisks guests through a haunted gold-mining town on a runaway mine train. Legend has it that a supernatural force dwells in the mountain that causes ghostly sounds, cave-ins, mechanic failures and runaway mine trains. If you can, ride this attraction both during the day and at night for completely different experiences.
Splash Mountain takes you in the middle of Br’er Rabbits adventure to his “laughing place” while trying to outwit Br’er Bear and Br’er Fox who are aiming to enjoy him as a meal. You will journey through Critter Cave, The Fishing Place, The Old Swimming Hole, Br’er Fox’s Lair and finally Br’er Rabbit’s home in the briar patch. This attraction includes over 950,000 gallons of water and a 5-story drop, so be prepared to get wet!
Tom Sawyer Island is located in the middle of Rivers of America and is only accessible by raft. On the island, your entire family can partake in an adventure through Harper’s Mill, Injun Joe’s Cave, Fort Langhorn, Potter’s Mill and Tom Sawyer Scavage Fort. Be sure to look for the fence Tom Sawyer was responsible for painting and wave to passengers on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Country Bear Jamboree is an animatronic show starring 18 hillbilly bears in a 16 minute performance. This is a foot stompin’ musical revue of America’s country-western heritage performed on 5 stages by a bunch of singin’ bears. This show was one of the last attractions developed by Walt Disney himself.
