Dreaming of a Disney vacation and feel its not within reach? It most definitely can be. These saving hacks can save you hundreds, which is important as Disney is pricey. Money is a large factor as why many think they can not go, however with time on your side and starting NOW, it is possible. These are 2 important components, as the further the trip the more time you have to save. Also there is no better time to start than now. Make Disney your goal and you will be on your way to reaching it.
1. Save Hundreds By Skipping Park Hopper
Park Hopper allows you to enter more than 1 park per day with your park ticket. Without park hopper you are committed to 1 park per day. However, there is so much to see and do in each park that ditching park hopper can be a smart savings decision. Furthermore, consider entering your park of choice in the morning and then taking a mid-day break and returning to the same park later in the day. Prices for park hopper are currently just under $80, for a family of 4 this comes out to a $320 savings for a family of 4.
2. Save Up To 30% On The Offers Page
Look for the Special Offers page on the Disney World Website. Here, guests can find special offers to save. For instance, Spring 2019 has the Sun & Fun Room Offer where guests can save up to 30% on rooms at select Disney Resort hotels (valid 4/28-9/30/19 for most stays). Offers are subject to change. A family of four staying at a Value Resort could save $217 over the course of a 7-night stay with this offer!
Examples:
- All Star Music $155/night, with offer $124/night = a 20% Savings
- Port Orleans Riverside $307/night, with offer $277/night = a 10% Savings
- Grand Floridian Resort & Spa $656/night, with offer $459/night = a 30% Savings
3. Put Your Vacation On Layaway
While Disney does not actually have a layaway plan, it is easy to set one up yourself. Factors to know are: how much money can I commit to save each month and how long will it take me? Play around with a timeline and budget to get a number that works for you. For more on what you get for how much read: How much does a Disney vacation cost?
Examples:
- $5,000 vacation, 1 year out = $417 per month
- $5,000 vacation, 2 years out = $208 per month
- $4,000 vacation, 1 year out = $333 per month
- $4,000 vacation, 2 years out = $167 per month
- $3,000 vacation, 1 year out = $250 per month
- $3,000 vacation, 2 years out = $125 per month
4. Save 5% With Target Red Card
Target offers their Red Card in either a credit or debit. The debit option is great for those who do not want a Credit Card, it is linked to your debit card. The Target Red Card (credit or debit) gives shoppers 5% off everyday purchases (instore or online) + free shipping (online). Even better, shoppers are able to get the 5% savings on Disney Gift Cards. The 5% savings may not seem like much, however over the span of thousands of dollars it does add up. By simply buying Disney Gift Cards at Target you can save $150 (based on $3,000). Save $200 with a $4,000 Disney Gift Card purchase and so on. Spread your purchases out over time, consider purchasing each month, or grabbing a gift card each time you shop (there is a daily purchase limit).
