If you are in the market for new plants for your yard or even inside your house, ALWAYS check the back of the garden department in Lowe’s and Home Depot. Often they have a rack with plants that haven’t been purchased by others and with a little TLC, can be nursed back to beautiful health.
This tip comes from my reader Becca…
Last year I bought a Knock Out Rose Bush at the end of the planting season on sale at Lowe’s. It was the last one left and I took it to the front and asked if it was actually going to live. The man stated that it was a sturdy plant but just in case he would give it to me for a dollar! It was originally a $45 plant. This year I wanted some more but did not want to pay the high price again. I simply asked if I picked out some of the “uglier” plants less likely to sell if I could get a discount. Without hesitation, they offered me half off. I picked the non flowering plants that needed a couple snips and they are now in the ground flowering beautifully!
