Did you know that there is a secret entrance to Animal Kingdom? When you arrive at the parks and the turnstiles are crowded, duck into the Rainforest Cafe (it has an entrance outside the park) and head through the gift shop. Just outside the exit doors to the gift shop is a semi-private turnstile into the park.
Since Rainforest Cafe opens at 8 am (Animal Kingdom usually opens at 9 am), you should be able to use this turnstile at rope drop. Due to it’s position into the park, that could put you ahead of the masses so that you can beat them to the Kilimanjaro Safaris.

I’m looking forward to using some of your tips. I’m currently planning our 1st Disney trip and it’s also to celebrate my son’s 5th birthday. I’m hoping for an excellent trip.

If you go on the Animal Kingdom Lodge Sunrise Safari tour, they take you in to a back entrance of the Animal Kingdom park.

Hubs and I will use this entrance when the lines are really long. We tested it with shorter lines, and it takes about the same amount of time. I went through rainforest and him through the front and he actually has to wait for me for a few seconds lol (okay like 20) but it can be a huge sanity saver

Thank you! That information is so helpful. We didn’t get to do Kilimanjaro Safaris during the last trip, so it’s at the top of the list for our next visit. I’ve even mapped out the quickest route back there to beat the crowd at rope drop, haha. I believe the main key to enjoying WDW is avoiding crowds & waiting in line, so any little shortcuts or time-saving tips are Disney gold to me.
Thanks for all the work you do on this blog. I found it a few months ago while looking for ways to save money on our Disney vacation, and it actually inspired me to start couponing. You post great deals & coupons, and Disney World advice like this is a bonus! :)
