I found out about Swagbucks on the SavEars Facebook group. I signed up in November 2015 for Swagbucks and the first month was rough! The first month I only earned $25.00, but then I turned to Savears for some advice. Several people pointed me to the Top 10 Ways To Earn With Swagbucks post. I read it and started following it.
By the end of December I had earned a total of $175.00. At that point I thought I needed a plan for the money I was earning, so I wouldn’t end up just spending without a plan! We just came back from WDW in October and we aren’t planning to go again until 2017. I didn’t want all my hard work to disappear. In my house, money has a way of doing that. Wink wink!
I knew I needed a new stove and we had been putting it off for months. Then the thought hit me a like a ton of bricks, use my Swagbucks to buy a new stove! I looked around online and found one I really liked. Last summer we bought a Whirlpool fridge, and I wanted to have the same brand of appliances. Before taxes it ran about $560.00. I made my goal to purchase that stove in one year, by earning $50.00 a month from Swagbucks. I didn’t want a high pressure goal. I have enough stress! I printed a picture of the stove I wanted and taped it to the wall above my computer. I think that really helped me stay motivated.
When I get my gift cards in from Swagbucks, I always print them out and put them inside the back of my budget binder. I also add the amounts earned to a spreadsheet once a month. Beyond that, I forget about it and just stuck to my daily routine. I was so surprised this past month when I was adding my March earnings to the spreadsheet. I was only $75.00 away from the $600.00 goal.
At that point, I got a little crazy seriously! For the first week of April, I did Swagbucks 3 hours a day, trying to get that extra $75.00 as fast as possible. That actually worked out in my favor big time. By the end of the first week in April not only did I get my $75.00, I also got into 2 panels each paying $30.00. I do have to wait 4-6 weeks after the panel finishes for payment so that money will go towards my next goal! When we went to purchase the stove it was actually on sale for $450.00. After taxes and the new cord I paid $539.99. Making me under budget by $61.00. My husband is still in shock that we paid $0.00 out of pocket for a new stove and have $61.00 left in Home Depot gift cards.
