If you are considering expanding your Disney vacation choices, you might be considering if you should take a short or a long Disney cruise. It all really comes down to personal preference.
On our first cruise, our youngest was 15 months old. It was a 4 night cruise on the Disney Dream. By the 4th night, I was wishing we were home in our own bed. It was so rough with her!
On our second cruise, our youngest was just shy of 3 years old. We went on a 3 night cruise on the Disney Fantasy. It was the absolutely perfect length with little kids!
So if you have a younger child, I would suggest the 3 or 4 night cruise on the Disney Dream (the Disney Fantasy does not normally have 3 night cruises) out of Port Canaveral. This will give you the opportunity to visit Castaway Cay and Nassau. It is close to Disney World so you could even do a Disney day before or after your cruise.
We actually don’t get off in Nassau because it is a tourist trap (there were at least 2 other cruise ships there on the day we visited). So you could always stay on the ship that day and enjoy many of the amenities to yourself if you aren’t eager to go explore.
If you have older children and if you have cruised before, you might want to go with one of the 5 of 7 day itineraries.
Kristen, we actually love Nassau! You are so missing out and so are your kids! I would like to recommend taking the Nassau buses to Cable Beach. They are very safe and inexpensive. I think kids are free and its just $1 or so for adults. Go to one of the hotels. It is free to use the beach. You can alsothe pool. And have a wonderful beachside lunch. We love Ardastra Gardens Zoo too!
