This tip to cooking evenly flat burgers will ensure that you never make another one with a “golf ball” on top. We’ve all made them; the burgers that puff up in the middle and don’t sit flat on your bun. Next time you make burgers, slightly mash a spoon sized indention in the middle of the patties.
Make sure you put indentations on both sides of the patties or one side will end up flat and the other will puff up. As the burger is cooking, the heat in the center will cause the meat to rise but not above the sides. This will make your burgers cook flat on the top.
