Are you planning a Walt Disney World vacation for early 2015? For many us, that is a GREAT time to visit Walt Disney World. We are stuck in the doldrums of winter, and need an escape from the cold. Although it is Florida, sunny, and warmer than the northern part of the US, it can still get a bit chilly. While I’m in the middle of a long series of FAQs about the Walt Disney World Resorts, I know a lot of readers are planning an early 2015 getaway to Walt Disney World! I’m taking a break from that topic, and giving you some tips for enjoying Walt Disney World when it is cold. I’m Carrie, travel agent with Destinations in Florida {the preferred agency of Couponing to Disney} and today I am going to share with you Tips for Touring the Disney Parks When it is Cold.
What should I pack for my Disney trip in January?
You will want to bring gloves, a hat, sweatshirts, and long pants. You can shed them as the day gets warmer. The mornings and evenings in Florida can get chilly, and when you are riding a roller coaster with cold air in your face, you’ll be thankful for the gloves.
Are the WaterParks open in the winter months?
No, they are not. Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach WaterParks are closed during a portion of the winter months for their annual refurbishment.
What are the best parks to visit when it is cold and windy?
I think the two best parks when it is cold at Walt Disney World are Epcot and/or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I recommend Epcot’s World Showcase. You can easily go in and out of the shops and restaurants to explore the cultures of the countries. Plus, your children could take part in Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure or get their passports stamped. Disney’s Hollywood Studios, most of the attractions are indoors. Plus, the attractions are closer together at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
What are the benefits to traveling to Disney in the early months of the year?
There are many advantages. First, the crowds are very low at the parks. The holiday rush crowd is gone, many locals are back in school, and it makes for a great time to visit. Second, the resort rates are low in January especially, making the trip more affordable.
Are the resort swimming pools open in the winter months?
Yes, they are. All the Walt Disney World Resort pools are heated. It may feel too cool outside to swim, but you can use the pools even in the winter months.
