Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom is a land that resembles the future that sci-fi writers in the 1920’s – 1930’s envisioned. Throughout Tomorrowland, you will find attractions with a futuristic feel. The landscape even features metallic palm trees which are said to produce metal coconuts that are used to power Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. Arcade.
On the Astro Orbiter, you must take an elevator to the platform high above Tomorrowland where you maneuver your rocket shaped spacecraft around a galaxy of planets. While this ride resembles Dumbo in the way it performs, it is not a good choice for those scared of heights.
Stop by Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin to become a Junior Space Ranger. Evil Emperor Zurg stole batteries from helpless toys to power up his new weapon of destruction and it is up to you to fire your laser at the targets to stop him. At the end of the ride, check out your Star Command Rank (based on the number of points you scored) and pose with a picture with the captured Zurg.
At Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, your party is invited into Monstropolis for a hilarious comedy show presented by Mike Wazowski. Since laughter is 10 times more powerful than scream, it is up to you to help fill the canister to power Monstropolis.
Stitch’s Great Escape is a theater in the round experience where you assist in the teleportation of the Level 3 alien who is thought to be very dangerous. That alien is the super-energetic Stitch who, of course, escapes the chamber and wreaks havoc on the audience.
At Tomorrowland Speedway, you can take the wheel of a gas powered race car that reaches up to 7 miles per hour around a 0.4 mile scenic track designed to resemble the Indiana Motor Speedway. Little ones 32″ and taller can drive with mom or dad, but you must be at least 54″ to take the car out on your own.
On Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, you can see how 4 generations of the same family lived at the turn of the 20th century, the 1920’s, the 1940’s and during the present day. Walt Disney created Carousel of Progress for the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair. It was placed at Disneyland until 1973 and then moved to Walt Disney World in 1975. As you enjoy this show, remember that Walt personally had a hand in this attraction.
The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover takes you on an elevated 10-minute tour of Tomorrowland. This attraction is located on the 2nd story of Tomorrowland and it takes you through Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Space Mountain, Mickey’s Star Traders Retail Shop and you even see models of the original vision for Epcot.
Space Mountain is a true treat for roller coaster enthusiasts. Your 3-seat rocket climbs a 180-foot tall mountain and then blasts through the galaxy in the pitch blackness of space. With the help of NASA astronaut Gordon Cooper, you will as if you are on an actual space flight as you journey past whizzing shooting stars, comets and meteors. At the end of the ride, you are pulled back into a swirling wormhole for re-entry to Earth. Be sure to smile for your picture!
