Today we are exploring our top 5 Favorite Months to go to Disney World (& Why)! One of the first things you must decide is just when to go?! Whatever month works for you is sure to be magical! However if your dates are flexible read the top 5 months now.
May
Early May brings light crowds as schools are in session. Crowds will increase as schools start to release for summer and Memorial Day weekend approaches. However, early May is a beautiful time to go!
May brings sunshine to Orlando, FL with warm evenings, the Average High is 88° and the Average Low is 66°. Rainfall averages 3.5″ monthly.
EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival typically occurs March through May yearly. Guests will enjoy the beauty of nature with flower displays and Disney characters as topiaries. See floating gardens on the water between Future World and the World Showcase. In past years, guests enjoyed the children’s interactive play areas, Garden Rocks Concert series at America Gardens Theatre, outdoor kitchens, a butterfly house exhibit and special merchandise. Read more about the Flower & Garden Festival.
September
Fall is a wonderful time to visit, most of September brings light crowds after Labor Day weekend as most schools have restarted. If Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is occurring this month than all Halloween Décor will be up at Magic Kingdom, sure to put you in a festive mood.
If you are hoping to swim, September brings summer like weather – without the crowds. Expect your Sept. visit to be humid (downside of this month is hurricane season). The Average daily High is 90° and Average Low is 73°. Do expect some rainy days with a Monthly Rain Fall Average of 6.1″.
At EPCOT guests can enjoy their Food & Wine Festival, typically occurring August through mid-November each year. Celebrate all things food, with additional food stations set up representing: Africa, Brazil, China, Greece and more. Past guests have taken part in: Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak Scavenger Hunt, Beverage Seminars, Cheese Seminars, Culinary Demonstrations and Eat to the Beat concert at America Gardens Theater. Read more about the Food & Wine Festival. Weekends will draw more crowds for the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot.
October
Then October is light crowds, less Columbus Day Weekend and Halloween Décor is in full swing. If Mickey Pumpkins make you smile, than October is a great time of year to visit Disney World.
The Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT is still in full swing and the weather is beautiful! October is great weather-wise, the temperatures are just a bit cooler and the rainfall significantly decreases from September to October in Orlando, FL. The Average High is 85° and the Average Low is 66°, with a Monthly Rain Fall Average of 3.3″.
December
The Christmas music, the Tree on Main St USA at Magic Kingdom and more make December my favorite month to go. At Disney Springs enjoy the FREE Christmas Tree Trail. The first couple of weeks of December are typically low crowd times with all the holiday magic in the air.
December is a great time to visit for weather as it is mostly dry with just 2.6″ average monthly rain fall. The Average High is 73° and Average Low is 52°, perfect for those who prefer not to melt!
At EPCOT enjoy the Festival of the Holidays. Past guests have enjoyed: Holiday Storytellers in each of the 11 countries, the Candlelight Processional at the America Gardens Theatre, a holiday version of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth and a scavenger hunt- Chip & Dale’s Christmas Tree Spree (for an extra cost). Read more about Festival of the Holidays.
Your Birthday Month
No matter what month, how amazing would it be to spend your birthday at Disney World?! If you can coordinate a trip with your birthday (or another travelers birthday) it makes for a special visit. Be sure to pick up your complimentary, “I’m Celebrating” button (your Resort front desk usually has them, or guest services on Main St USA at Magic Kingdom). Look forward to cast members wishing you a Happy Birthday all day long! I have even heard stories of guests getting “pixie dust” for their birthday, such as a free dessert! Not to be expected, but a magical moment if it does happen.
Also head to Disney Springs for restaurants such as Sprinkles that will give you a FREE cupcake on your birthday when you sign up for their rewards program. Disney Springs can be a great place to use birthday rewards as they have many nationwide chains and stores. Read more tips for a magical birthday at Disney World.
