I am online for just a minute between storms (both my main internet and my 3G on my phone was down). My town was hit by a tornado at 6 am this morning. The above picture is the warehouse behind my house! There are tons of trees and power lines down and there was even a fatality within 3 miles of my house.
I was online working this morning and decided to check Weather.com. I saw that there was a tornado warning in the Birmingham area and turned the weather on 5 minutes before it hit. We ran to the hall and the winds started shaking the house and setting off our house alarm. It lasted for 2 or 3 minutes. After it calmed down, we went to check out the damage. We only lost a set of shingles on our roof. Our friends up the street lost their fence, half their chimney and a bunch of shingles. The house across the street had all the windows on the backside of their house blown out.
This is just the first storm. There is another one coming. Please pray for all of us here in Alabama. The storm is expected to go into Georgia, Tennessee and the Carolinas too.
Sending prayers to you and your town. I hope everything will be okay.
Prayers for you and your town!
So thankful that you and your family are safe. Praying for those who are not.
So scary! I am so sorry to hear this. I am praying that your loved ones and everyone in your state and the neighboring ones are safe. Please be careful.
I hope everything is ok. I live in Kentucky, and this is the first night in almost a week we haven’t had a tornado waring. I hope all this bad weather clears up soon. Prayers your way.
We are keeping everyone effected by these storms in our thoughts and prayers. I can’t read through these comments without tearing up. What can we do to Help?
Praying for you and your family.

Will pray for your family and that whole area, I live in Oklahoma and the storm passed through here yesterday. Vey scary!
Sending prayers your way from Oregon. Stay safe and God Bless.
Glad you guys are alright…our son in Tuscaloosa at the university watched it coming from his office window on campus as it hit the quad. His girlfriend lived in one of the areas near the hospital. Across the street from her apt. all the houses were blown away, along with the up-town Dreamland BBQ and other stores. Her apt lost windows and her car is a total loss. He was able to get her out and take her to safe location for the night. Wow…close one!
Praying for everyone in your area. I live in Saint Louis and we were just hit bad by a tornado last week. Lambert Airport was heavily damaged as well as neighborhood within 1 mile of me were destroyed completely. Mother Nature is doing some scary things lately but it just makes everyone put everything into check.
My family has been through two tornados, both hit the same town Xenia, Ohio.
The first was the largest and nearly destroyed our whole town, it was left in rubbles, 34 people died plus 2 national guardsmen. Then in 2000 a tornado
took virtually the same path and destroyed many of the same buildings that had been hit in the 1974 Tornado. One man was killed in this tornado. The destruction was unbelievable. I was 13 in 1974 and as we climbed out of our
neighbors basement it was hard to recongnize who’s home was which. It was the first time I saw my father cry. The men immediatly organized to go help rescue people. We spent weeks with no electricity, we were lucky our homes
roof was mostly gone, the windows were blown out, our car was destroyed, garage door gone and the most amazing thing was the water spickets were pushed flat against the house, the wind had that much force but we boarded up
and stuck it out until repairs could be made. We even received a visit from then
President Nixon who’s helicopter landed in the school field behind our house and he came up to shake everybody’s hand. For a 13 year old this was alot.
We had no schools and finished our year out at the neighboring county schools
where we attended school at night. What looked so hopeless all came together
and in the end our city was stronger and better than ever due to the spirit of our community. Good luck in your rebuilding. My prayers go to you and your community.
I understand where you are coming from. I live near Micro, NC where the tornados hit a week ago. The damage is terrible but seeing the communities come together is amazing. Praying for you safety.
Praying God’s hand of protection be upon you & your family.
Praying for your safety! I was in a tornado in 1999 and my car was totaled and we lost a ton of trees, but the house right next door lost their entire roof. We were really blessed, but I know what you are going through. Hang in there!
Praying for you and your family!! Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on us! In any horrible time, I always says these words and they always seem to comfort me. I hope you guys stay safe Kristin!
Thinking of you all day as we got updates while at work today. Praying for you and your family. Stay safe!
You are the first person I thought of when I turned on the news and saw all the tornadoes in Alabama (even though I live hundreds of miles away and I’ve never met you!) I hope you have a safe night.
OMG.. I have tears in my eyes reading this,… be safe!!
I survived Hurrican Andrew in 1992… I HATE strong winds now… Let your kids wear shoes to bed.. that way if you have to make a run for it in the house – their toes will be protected. I lived in my house for 22 years and walked away with one short, one shirt and one shoe (no baby pictures, no refrig, one less family member :( – I left south florida with nothing!! but the clothes on my back and the one shoe I found after the storm) Worst night EVER!! Good luck.
Praying for all of you in the dangerous areas tonight!
Praying for you and friends/family as well! Be safe!!!

I live about 15 min outside of Nashville and it’s been crazy all week, Sitting here watching news for the storms, Everyone is afraid we are gonna have the floods like we did last year on May 1,2. Everyone stay safe and don’t take chances
Prayers coming your way :) hope that is the end of the damage. put on bike helmets if you have them just in case. sounds weird i know but anything to help protect your body can’t hurt right?
my little girl (age 3) was telling me just yesterday in the car on the way to preschool “grandma and grandpa coffey are my favorite.” I told her grandma died before she was born and grandpa died a while ago when she was just little. she tells me matter of factly:
‎”I know that. she told me she loved me in heaven when i was born. and jesus held my hand and took me for a walk and he sat down with me and then he lifed me over the crack and told me I will always listen to your prayers.” all i can say is WOW. she sure told me. and gave me more faith and a reminder that He will always listen to our prayers. :)
Oh Heather I say wow also. My 4yr old keeps talking about her “grandmother” for the past 2 years. We firmly believe it’s my late mother n law who died in 2003, Madi was born in 2007. I wish sometimes we could all be as innocent as children to be able to see people we’ve lost. It just makes your faith that much stronger :-)
Wow. How inspiring!
Omg that is amazing. Children seem to know so much. I think its the innocense. My daughter is 4 and a few weeks ago we had tornados in our county and she said mommy papa said to just hide in the laundry room and the tornado will miss us hes going to make it go in the woods. My dad (her papa) passed away when she was 11 months old. I took both of my daughters in the laundry room since it has no windows and sure enough the tornado went right through our woods missing our house barely.
Sending prayers! We are in Tennessee and we are also being pummelled with the storms that you all are recieving. Praying everyone stays safe in these.

Thankfuly we have not be hit where I am but we are in another tornado watch right now and the county next to be is under a tornado warning so I fear we are next. My toddler gets sick just hearing the word tornado so I try to keep cartoons on I get most me news from facebook. I pray that we will all be safe durring these dangerous storms. So glad you are safe thus far, but I will be praying for your continued safety. We have had a lot of scary weather here, although not nearly as much as you all and those in Arkansas.
My prayers are with you and the others affected by these terrible storms. I lived through a tornado when I was 5 and lived in Alabama, very scary. Like you we were really lucky, just a little bit of damage, but just two houses behind us there was a house that was a total loss.
Be safe.
I hope you all are ok! we got hit on the 16th I worked at the Lowes that was all over the news and I know I am nervous as all get out right now!!!! here in NC
Rhonda, we are just over a mile away from the path of that same tornado (when it went through Raleigh), and we cannot imagine the shock that you and your co-workers went through/are going through after it hit the Lowe’s. Your manager and other workers were so awesome to get everyone to safety. Thinking about you and everyone in our area who were affected by the tornado, and Kristin, I’m thinking of you and your neighbors and everyone else who is being affected by all these tornadoes. We may get some more bad weather tomorrow, but hopefully just thunderstorms.
Prayers going up for you, your family and community!
So glad you guys are safe! I am in the Minor area and just have alot of trees down. Prayers for everyone being affected and hopefully there wont be any more deaths. This is really scary stuff!
