Couponing and saving your way to a Walt Disney World vacation? When you get there, food will be as important a daily event as that ride on Space Mountain. Here’s a look at the Walt Disney World snack you can’t afford to miss, priced at a totally reasonable $3.99…the Disney cupcake.
Picture this… the S’mores Cupcake from Wilderness Lodge
Not only is $3.99 completely reasonable for a cupcake bigger than your hand, but just snacking at Walt Disney World‘s Wilderness Lodge is a treat in itself. With a graham cracker-flavored base, a toasted-marshmallow roof, and a piece of Hershey’s chocolate to top it off, hop on over to Roaring Forks Snacks at Wilderness Lodge for a Disney S’mores cupcake.
The Holiday-Themed Vanilla Cupcake
Holidays are simply beautiful at Walt Disney World, and the snack foods are decorated with equal gusto. This Christmas cupcake was hangin’ out at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, of all places, in a refrigerated case in the gift shop. When you pick up your t-shirt and Mickey key chain, have a Cast Member box up a $3.99 cupcake as well. This treat was vanilla cake with vanilla icing, and I split it with three kids. Yup- one cupcake- four ways. It’s not a meal split in four, but rather just a pre-lunch snack. Sharing is actually creating fun family memories anyway. Sweet, sweet, sweet- the vanilla icing is incredibly sweet. You’ll find vanilla-flavored cupcakes readily available throughout the parks and resorts all over the Disney property, plus Goofy’s Candy Co. at Downtown Disney. Christmas trees at Christmas, hearts for Valentine’s Day, and on and on. Kids especially love the specialty decorated versions.
Now for my new cupcake favorite in a fabulous after-dark Disney spot…
The Spiced Apple Cupcake
This Spiced Apple cupcake resides at Disney’s Contemporary Resort at the Contempo Cafe. Vanilla cake with a hint of cinnamon, vanilla icing with a hint of caramel, the real delight is the gooey apple-cranberry filling. The Contemporary Resort is a relaxing place to spend some quality time after dark, with soft lighting and a monorail whooshing by for an added touch of Disney magic, and you’ll be listening to the sound of happy vacationers over at Chef Mickey’s.
$3.99. In terms of the price of Disney food, $3.99 is practically free. Practically…
Thanks for coming along for a photographical Disney ride, and we’ll see you in the cupcake line!

I was actually at Downtown Disney when you posted this so I made sure to get one before I left. It was delicious!!
TOTALLY AGREED on the carrot cake cookie… although any of the Selma’s cookies are amazing (the ones that look like they were made using an ice cream scoop!)… available at the Writer’s Stop at the Studios, Goofy’s Candy Shop at Downtown Disney, and various other places at WDW. HOWEVER, I must add…. my FAVORITE snack is the Skoolbread at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe in Norway at Epcot — MUST TRY!!!!!!!! Also, an amazing deal – approximately the size of four of my fists at least and (as of this past fall) still only $2.69!! That’s one of my must-do’s whenever I’m there and was one of my favorite standby secrets when I did an internship at WDW in college.
I had a GIANT red velvet one at the Contemporary while we were staying there. Had a big chocolate Mickey on top. It was delicious, and I got it on the dining plan!
And the carrot cake “cookie” is a must have!
Ok, so I’m going to be wanting to use every one of my snack credits on cupcakes! Do any of the locations have cupcakes as the dessert on the DDP?
Jennifer, I was just going to post about the cappuccino cupcake. We got one to split last week and I totally regretted not getting my own!!
I loved the cappuccino cupcake at Pizza Planet in Hollywood Studios!
They look and sound so yummy! Are they only available during the holidays (they seem to have that theme)? If so, any recommendations for cupcakes during the summer?
Does anyone know if you can using dining plan snack credits to get cupcakes?
I believe the cupcakes (at 3.99) are all covered as snack credits on the dining plan!
Iam leaving on Monday for WDW and cant wait to try one. Is that mug this years?
I think it is. Have a great time!!
Wow. YUM!! I’m soo excited! We have just decided to take a trip to DisneyWORLD (first time for any of us…been to DisneyLand more than once though!) in the Spring of 2014 (after our graduations) – I can’t wait to try these cupcakes!!! :-D
