We have discussed before WHY Memory Maker is worth it. Such as with this, 7 Reasons Why “Memory Maker Is Worth It” At Walt Disney World. However, not yet WHEN it is worth it. When does getting Memory maker become a better financial decision? There is a tipping point at which it makes more financial sense to fork over money for Disney’s Memory maker.
First, What is Memory Maker?
Memory Maker allows guests unlimited digital downloads, this includes photos and videos, taken by Disney’s PhotoPass photographers. The cost for advanced purchase is $169.00, versus the $199.00 price tag at Disney World. Therefore, save $30 just by purchasing ahead. Must know – purchase at least 3 days prior to your vacation since the advance purchase price takes 3 days to connect to your account.
Use Disney PhotoPass Service to capture photos in front of Cinderella’s Castle, on-ride photos, dining photos and family pictures. Plus, Disney magic shots and Animated magic shots are especially fun, such as the Super Zoom Magic Shots at Magic Kingdom.
Cost Breakdown:
Now moving on, to find out the tipping point when Memory maker makes sense we need to know some prices.
As of Summer 2020, cost to download a single PhotoPass photo is $16.95.
Cost for 10 single photos without Memory maker is $169.50.
Therefore, at the advanced price of $169 for Memory maker, if you think you will want more than 10 photos Memory maker is the way to go. If you are very good at self control and think you will only buy a handful, you can come out ahead and actually save money. However, I typically get more than 300 PhotoPass photos during my trips, it can be very hard to narrow that down to under 10!
Therefore, Memory Maker is a great value and photos make great souvenirs. However if you want to skip it, you will come out ahead at under 10 photos bought individually.
