Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is now open at EPCOT! This family friendly thrill-coaster is one of the longest fully enclosed roller coasters found worldwide! Help save the galaxy on this intergalactic chase.
One common question since this attraction opened has been, will I get motion sickness on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind? Now read about OmniCoaster Tecnology, what on this ride could cause motion sickness, how fast it goes and tips!
OmniCoaster Technology
This coaster uses OmniCoaster technology, which rotates 360 degrees and allows the ride vehicle to move freely. There are no major drops or turns and this attraction does not go upside down. However, this is still labeled as a thrill coaster!
What On This ride can cause Motion Sickness?
This ride vehicle does move in all directions during the experience. This confusion on which direction you are headed, can cause motion sickness. Another aspect of this will be the darkness (think Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom).
Also, an important factor is this ride does give the sensation of going backwards, and this attraction sends guests off on a backwards launch. If you have ever had issues on Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom, this will be a similar sensation.
A final aspect are the screens and projections, which have also triggered some to have motion sickness. Similar screen technology is used in Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
How Fast Is This Attraction?
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind reaches its top speed at just over 50mph, this occurs at launch. The speed of this attraction is similar to Expedition Everest which has a top speed of 50mph.
Biggest Tips to avoid Motion Sickness
If you are prone to motion sickness, past guests suggest the force feels less intense on the left side of the attraction.
Another tip is to ask to wait for the front row, as the back row makes the attraction feel faster.
Also, try not to ride on an empty stomach but do not eat anything too heavy before riding. I will also take this opportunity to remind all guests to stay hydrated while in the parks as well!
If you have used essential oils or motion sickness medicine in the past, it may be worth packing for your next trip for attractions like this.
