When you figure out how much you need for your fund, break down into categories. The amount you need for airfare, hotel, tickets, dining, souvenirs, etc. Start saving for each one individually and mark it off your list as you go. Here’s an example:
Airfare – $800
Resort – $700
Tickets – $900
Dining – $750
Souvenirs – $300
Start with the first line item and when you reach $800, mark it off your list and move on to the second line item.
It’s just a fun way to break down your savings and help you stay motivated.

Love this idea!
Setting small goals is how I’ve budgeted for my next trip. It’s nice to check things off as we reach each goal!
Thanks, Kristin! Always fun to see what others are budgeting for their trips!
And what a great method, breaking up the costs, really helps with the overall saving and meeting small goals.
