If you or your spouse constantly find yourself buying food or drink from the vending machine, here’s a great tip. Purchase the item you buy in bulk instead. My husband buys a honey bun every day he works for $0.75. When I found out what he was buying, I bought a box of them and saved us almost $0.50 a day. It can really add up!

Haha – my hubby used to buy Hostess Mini-muffins for $1.29 at the GAS STATION everyday. I went to the Hostess day-old store, and bought a 4 pk box for $2/box. I told him he owed me $.79 every time he took one out of the box (the price difference he paid everyday) …he could keep the time he saved going to the store every morning! :D
After we had kids, I bought a mini-muffin pan and made my own mini-muffins. WAY better tasting and WAY cheaper than even what I was getting from Hostess :) Just had to buy snack bags to store them in for hubby to grab!
I love those discount stores :) Making your own is even better, though!
You can also just bag up items. What we do is bag up chips, pretzels or other snacks from a large bag into ziploc bags to bring to work. And if you want to be really thrifty, you can reuse the baggies. Bringing soda from home really adds up too (provided your co-workers don’t drink them).
That is a good idea, too!
The small Ziploc and Glad containers are perfect for this. I use them to send snack size items to school for my kids.
