I am so happy that you all are coming to read my blog. I have really great plans for my blog and I hope to teach you all how to save your money for a great vacation (or whatever you want!).

Life is so busy right now. My oldest is 5 and she is about to start school so we are busy getting everything ready. She starts on Aug 10th. And we have family in town this weekend.

So please bare with me. I appreciate it!

Frugal Tips 7.31.09

in Posts

Daily Frugal Tips:

1. Use reusable plastic containers instead of plastic baggies for food.

2. Take a handful of condiments when you eat at a fast food restaurant, and use the extras you have left at home.

3. Try shaving your legs with conditioner instead of shaving cream. You can buy a bottle of the cheapest conditioner and it will last a while! Skin feels silky smooth.

4. Use an old Kleenex box as a plastic shopping bag dispenser.

5. Do you love burning smelly candles? Put the candle in the freezer for 24 hours beforehand. This will cause the wax to burn more slowly, making the candle last twice as long!

All You Magazine

in Posts

Photobucket

All You is a magazine that is sold exclusively at Walmart or by subscription (Try 2 trial issues HERE). The magazine costs $2.34 but contains $73 worth of coupons in it. There is a coupon in the current issue (cover is above) for a FREE Jack Link’s Buffalo Chicken Nuggets (up to a $7.67 value). This coupon will more then pay for the cost of the magazine!

Here is some interesting information from the current issue.

1. The current value of unused items in the average household is $670. Have a yard sale and sell everything you can’t live without.

2. Take all the unnecessary items out of your car and you could save up to $119 worth of gas in a year.

3. Keep your fridge and pantry organized. The average family throws away $72 worth of food a month!

4. If you want to cut down the amount you spend on going out to eat, do it gradually. If you spend $200 a month, make your first month’s goal $150, then $100 the next month and so on. You have a better chance of success by doing this.

Frugal Tips 7.29.09

Daily Frugal Tips:

1. Consider using less laundry detergent then what is recommended. Start by trying 1/4th less to see if the clothes still come out clean and fresh. (This will all depend on the brand you use really)

2. Reuse plastic shopping bags for trash bags. They fit well inside a bathroom trash can or put one in your laundry room for your dryer lint.

3. When you go to a fast food restaurant, order a smaller sized soda with no ice. The soda comes out of the machine already chilled and you will get more if you get no ice.

4. When making tacos, use 1/2 ground meat and 1/2 brown rice. Once it’s seasoned, no one will notice the rice.

5. Put your dishwashing soap in a pump style bottle and dilute with a little bit of water. It will still be enough to wash your dishes and you will be able to stretch the bottle of soap.

6. After 1/3rd of the bottle of shampoo has been used, replace it with water and shake well. It will still clean your hair, but the bottle will last longer.

7. Check to see if your washer has a timed cycle. Try using it instead of the full wash. It would save on electricity and water.

Here is the thread on the Disboard I am following, if you want to read ahead.

Pampers Gifts To Grow

in Posts

Photobucket

If you regularly buy Pampers, perhaps you have noticed the code printed on a little sticker on the inside of the package. These codes can be entered online at Pampers.com and redeemed for prizes. Some of my favorites available right now are the Gap/Old Navy gift card for 260 points and 200 4×6 prints for 150 points. Here are some codes to get you started:

STARTEARNINGNOW
HAPPYFATHERSDAY
HAPPYMOTHERSDAY
WELCOMEBONUS089

Just remember to check all the Pampers products for the code. It’s on a white sticker on the inside of the package. The program is set to end on December 31st, 2011 but they have been extending it every year since 2007.

Frugal Tips 7.28.09

Daily Frugal Tips:

1. Freeze bread. When you see it on sale at a great price, stock up and put it in the freezer.

2. Shop at the thrift store for like new clothes and other items. You never know what you will find! I got a $1600 La-Z-Boy armoire for $75 and it is in great shape!

3. Give up paper towels and paper napkins. Buy a bundle of wash cloths (you get about 20 for $4 at Walmart) and use them instead. I keep a roll of paper towels in my laundry room in case I need them but use the wash cloths about 90% of the time.

4. Cut your dryer sheets in half. You’ll never notice the difference and the box will last twice as long.

5. Use vinegar instead of fabric softener in the washer.

6. Water down your kids juice. They get less sugar and it makes the juice go farther. Try 2/3rd juice to 1/3rd water.

If you are interested in more tips, here’s the thread on the Disboard I am following.
