Embark on a Bahamian and Caribbean cruise with Disney Cruise Line and visit Disney’s private island named Castaway Cay. Once the cruise ship pulls up to dock, guests are immediately stepping onto the island and into paradise. To learn more of what to expect, here are 10 fun things to do on Castaway Cay.
1. Castaway Family Beach
Enjoy a beach in paradise with your family. There are 3 bars on the family beach serving adult beverages and soft drinks. Enjoy a lunch buffet as well. Consider renting an inner tube to float on for $11. Tip, continue further down the beach to find a less crowded spot.
2. Castaway Ray’s Stingray Adventure
After a 10-minute orientation, guests can feed and touch stingrays during this tour. Then, snorkel in the lagoon to see more Stingrays for approximately 30 minutes. The cost is $56.00 (ages 10 and up) and $45.00 (ages 5 to 9) for this 1 hour adventure led by a marine specialist. Guests must be at least 5 years old to participate.
3. Pelican Plunge
Visit the floating platform named Pelican Plunge. On this 2,400 square foot structure guests will find 2 water slides, one enclosed and one open, both twisting fun. Fill Buckets are also sure to get you wet. Guests do need to make a short swim to Pelican Plunge. This is not just for kids, adults will enjoy as well.
4. Parasailing
Enjoy a view of paradise from above while Parasailing over Castaway Cay. The cost is $110 for ages 8+. Guests will depart from Marges Barges on their boat after a short safety course. Then soar at heights reaching up to 800 ft for approximately 5 to 7 minutes.
5. Character Meet & Greets
Castaway Cay offers the opportunity for guests to meet their favorite Disney pals in their island attire. Find characters at places such as the post office on the island, at Mt. Rushmore and on the dock as you head back to the ship. Characters include Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Olaf and more (subject to change). These are sure to make for great family photos.
6. RunDisney Castaway Cay 5K
Guests aged 10+ are invited to participate in the free RunDisney Castaway Cay 5K during your cruise. Offered in the morning, this 3.1 mile untimed event is for runners and walkers. Receive a participation medal and explore the island in a whole new fun and energizing way.
7. Mail A Postcard
Castaway cay has an official Post Office, the Bahamian Post Office. Buy a stamp here and mail a postcard to friends or family back home. Post Cards are not for sale at the Post Office. If you come prepared, with post card and stamps beforehand, simply drop postcard in the drop box, in case they are not open when you visit.
8. Observation Tower
Towards the center of the island off the bike trail find an Observation Tower. Standing at 40-feet tall, the observation gives breathtaking views of the island. Look for your ship in the distance after you climb the 47 steps to the top. Tip, bring binoculars.
9. Bicycle Rentals
Rent a bicycle at $13 per person for guests ages 3+. Enjoy a scenic bike ride around the island, at your own pace. Be sure to park your bike and check out the Observation Tower before continuing on your path.
10. Visit Serenity Bay
This one is for the adults (guests 18+ only), as Serenity Bay is a beautiful beach for adults only. This stretch of beach if not often crowded and located about 1 mile away from the family beach area. Also, enjoy morning yoga on the beach at Serenity Bay, a lunch buffet and a beach bar. After all, fun for adults sometimes is just relaxing.
