What are some of your favorite whole chicken slow cooker recipes? I think this might be my new favorite way to cook a chicken. It’s so easy and literally falls apart when it’s done. Here’s how I cook my whole chicken in the slow cooker. I would love to hear some of your ideas!
Check out this slow cooker chicken and dumplings recipe I recently made. Instead of using chicken breasts, you can make a whole chicken in your Crock-Pot one day and freeze the left overs to use for this recipe.
Using a Slow Cooker not only makes preparing dinner easier, it also saves on your power bill because you don’t have to run the oven and heat up the whole house. Check out all the Slow Cooker Chicken recipes we have tried and be sure to share your favorites too!

We add water, chicken bouillon, garlic powder, and whatever spices I have on hand…
Then when the chicken is done, I pour the liquid into a pot and cook egg noodles in it, to serve on the side.
Oh my YUMMY!

Take about 2-3 tbls of mayonnaise and rub all over chicken. Cover with dried onions, garlic, salt, and pepper.

I love it with a little paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Great flavor and still versatile.

I ball up some aluminum foil and put it in the bottom of the slow cooker for the chicken to sit on. Take everything out of the chicken and spice it up however you want to. Put the chicken breast side down on the foil (the foil holds it out of the liquid.) Cook it on HIGH for 6-8 hours. The skin is gross, but if you peel the skin off it’s much like the rotisserie chicken you purchase in the grocery stores.

I seriously just throw it in as is with a little water. Not very exciting, but it makes the chicken more versatile when it comes out. I can mix it with BBQ sauce for sandwiches. I can mix it with honey mustard for wraps. I can put it in enchiladas or tacos. I can put it in casserole or stews. I can mix it in eggs for omelets or top on a salad. I don’t have to worry about how rosemary will taste in Mexican food or if the olive oil will make the eggs runnier
Definitely agree tho. A whole chicken in the crock is SUCH a time saver & we all know, TIME IS MONEY! I hardly ever buy breasts alone anymore, especially at $3.69/lb from our butcher. Gladly take $1.49/lb whole chickens for breasts, thighs, wings AND broth after the meat has been picked. And that’s just my snooty meat-snob prices. If I went with grocery store fare, I’m always seeing .88c/lb chicken sales.
