Here are 12 things to do in the Magic Kingdom in the evening:
1. Walk Down Main Street USA – Walk down Main St USA in the evening and admire all the extra lights, making for a pretty stroll. Grab a coffee or treat or do some shopping, all available on Main St USA.
2. Happily Ever After – Make sure you get a spot where you can see the wire that runs from the top of the castle to the top of the Tomorrowland Terrace. This is where Tinker Bell will fly during the performance.
3. Once Upon A Time – This show takes place nightly on the front of Cinderella’s Castle. It usually runs just before Happily Ever After but some nights it can have two showings. Check the Times Guide for accurate show times.
4. The Kiss Goodnight – The final presentation on the castle that occurs about 20-30 minutes after the official closing time. It includes a short 3 minute narration and a wish goodnight by Mickey Mouse.
5. Aladdin’s Magic Carpet Ride – As the sun starts to go down and guests head to dinner, the queues for many attractions start to dwindle. This attraction is one of my favorites to ride at dusk.
6. Barnstormer – By the evening this fun attraction sees short wait times. My kids love riding it in the dark. They say it is faster.
7. Dumbo the Flying Elephant – Now that it has the indoor area where kids can play instead of waiting in line, this is a great attraction to head to when the lines start to get long elsewhere. You can sit in the air conditioning and even charge your phone while the kids play. You’ll get a pager to let you know when it’s your turn. If your kids want to keep playing, just let the Cast Member know. You’ll be able to enter the line anytime after your pager goes off, even if they play for another 20 minutes.
8. it’s a small world – This classic boat ride starts to see decreased wait times after dinner. See if you can spot the Donald piñata.
9. Pirates of the Caribbean – The coolness of this air in this attraction gives it an erie feeling when the sun goes down. Plus your eyes are naturally dilated more so you can see more details in this dark ride.
10. Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover – If you want a break from walking, jump on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. This ride loads quick, meaning the line moves quick as well. Enjoy a relaxing ride above people with views of Cinderella’s Castle and Tomorrowland, especially pretty in the evening.
11. Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid – Hop aboard your Clam Shell as you venture into Ariel’s story.
12. Tomorrowland Speedway – When the sun goes down, so does the queue for this attraction. Young kids will enjoy driving the car around the guide rail on the race course. Parents won’t appreciate being knocked around as they hold their foot on the gas pedal.
