MagicBands do many things while at Disney World. However, learn things not to do with your MagicBand today. Here are 8 things not to do with your MagicBand.
1. Do Not Pack Your MagicBand To Checked Luggage
Your MagicBand is literally your key to Disney World, with access to opening your Disney Resort Door, entering parks and more. Do not pack your MagicBand in your checked luggage. This is for a couple reasons, first your luggage could unfortunately get lost. Secondly is if you are taking advantage of Disney’s Magical Express, you need your MagicBand to check in with Magical Express at the airport. This service provides a motorcoach from Orlando Airport to your Disney Resort.
2. Do Not Buy A MagicBand
If you are staying at a Walt Disney World owned & operated Resort you will receive a complimentary MagicBand. This is also true for Annual Passholders. Guests have a variety of 8 solid color choices: pink, green, red, purple, orange, yellow, blue and gray (default color). Plus, have your name printed on the inside, a nice touch of personalization. Of course you could purchase a special edition or character themed MagicBand for extra fun and link to your existing reservation. However, for on-site guests getting a free MagicBand is a nice perk. Personalize color & name at least 11 days prior to your arrival.
3. Do Not Share Your MagicBand
Your MagicBand contains your information and benefits linked (park tickets etc.) that can only be used by you. Therefore, guests are not allowed to share their MagicBand. Furthermore, transferring a MagicBand from to another person is not possible once it has been linked to your Disney account.
4. Do Not Take It Off To Swim
Did you know MagicBands are waterproof? That makes them safe to wear while swimming. The first time I swam with mine, I was hesitant, however it’s perfectly safe! Also, since it is your Resort room key, being able to wear while swimming at your Resort pool is convenient. It is also good to know, rain will not effect your MagicBand either. Guests can essentially wear their bands for their entire vacation.
5. Do Not Cover The Mickey Head With Jewels
Decorating your complimentary solid color MagicBand is a great way to Disney it up with your favorite character and more. In fact, Etsy now has an array of affordable MagicBand covers for those of us that are not artistic. However, if you do want to decorate your MagicBand yourself, do not place large jewels or thick paint over the Mickey Head. Thin vinyl stickers and wraps have both been successful (while covering the Mickey Head) with no issues at touch point. Just stay away from any thick materials to ensure your MagicBand will work properly.
6. Do Not Forget To Make Your MagicBand Smaller (if needed)
This tip is for children and guests with small wrists. Did you know the MagicBand can easily be turned into a smaller size? Simply remove the dark gray portion. Read a Tutorial – MagicBand Hack.
7. Do Not Feel Obligated To Wear A MagicBand
The use of Radio Frequency (RF) technology is used to make MagicBands work, similar to those found in fitness bands. If you prefer not to use a MagicBand guests do have another option. Guests can request a card from your Disney Resort. A card, like the MagicBands, will allow entry to Disney Parks, use for Fastpass+ and unlock your Disney Resort room. Guests can also choose to purchase a MagicBand 2 which fit with MagicKeepers (lanyard clips).
8. Do Not Panic If You Lose Your MagicBand
There are steps you can take if you lose your MagicBand, do not panic. If you have access to your online Disney account, visit the MagicBand section of your profile to deactivate the lost MagicBand. You will be asked to select a reason why, choose MagicBand/card is lost. For a loss at Disney World, guests will need to visit Guest Relations in their Disney Resort and they will deactivate it for you. Do note, Disney may give you a replacement MagicBand. These are on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed. Lost MagicBands such as limited edition ones are unfortunately not replaced. Disney Resorts and shops throughout Disney World sell MagicBands, therefore if one is lost it can be deactivated and replaced by buying a new one and activating, if a replacement is not provided. If you happen to have packed an extra one, this can also be activated (once other is deactivated).

I used to love WDW. They’ve always been pricey, but mow they are outright bending guests over and taking advantage of them.
It’s disgusting.
