Disney World has unveiled its plan to add a 270-acre, 50-megawatt solar facility, which will produce enough power to meet 2 of its 4 main theme parks. Once completed this project is expected to have half a million solar panels. This accomplishes reducing annual greenhouse gas emissions by more than 52,000 metric tons, equivalent to taking 9,300 cars off the road each year.
This facility will be located near Animal Kingdom. Disney will be in collaboration with Reedy Creek Improvement District and Origins Energy USA for this project. Another solar facility will be located nearby Epcot.
