Mousekeeping is the name of Disney’s housekeeping services. They are responsible for cleaning up the rooms, changing sheets, replacing shampoo bottles, dirty towels etc. Guests are accustomed to expecting housekeeping as part of their hotel stay (unless, of course you choose to hang the “do not disturb” sign).
Well, what if housekeeping was offered as an option instead of a given? Those guests who opt out of housekeeping would be compensated with a Disney gift card. Disney’s Pop Century Resort is doing just this for a trial period. Would skipping Mousekeeping (and possible Towel Animals) be OK with you in exchange for a gift card?

We were at Pop in November 2016. The they were not doing towel animals. We were very disappointed.

how much is the gift card ? is it per day or length of stay?
Eulette says
I was told that the don’t do towel animals anymore, and I know that when we were at the Art of Animation in 2015 we never got any towel animals and that’s when the manager told me that they don’t do them anymore, because someone complained about having Mouse Keeping waste time on making the towel animals.
I hope that Disney will go back to doing the towel animals if they really did stop making them, because to me that is part of the Disney Magic when you walk into your room and there are cute towel animals waiting for you.

This is not true. I asked the front desk and they have never heard of this.
Angie says
This would be a perk cuz we usually don’t like house keeping coming into our room! But like someone mentioned, we usually need to call for towels too. So getting a gift for this would be great!
Jeannie says
Would there be a place to exchange towels? Get more products……shampoo, conditioner, etc?
Rachael says
We keep a do not disturb on the door a lot when in hotels. I hate my space invaded but the down side is towel exchange. We always have to call for towels.

I agree! My kids couldn’t wait to see what animal was waiting for them when we got back to our room.
