This is a love it/ hate it place for me. They have a large variety to please everyone, but it is a pain when each person wants something from a different line. It is usually very, very crowded during peak times, and often hard to find tables, especially for larger parties. When we were there last week, they would not let us get seated unless we were carrying food. It is nearly impossible to juggle all the stuff you bring in off the stroller, keep up with tired, hungry kids, try to decide what everyone wants and find the appropriate line, continue to keep up with everything and everyone, and carry a tray or two. We have eaten here many times in the past, and this is the first time I ever encountered this rule. It’s a pain.
But if you find a time when it is not crowded and they allow “saving tables”, the chicken plates with green beans and mashed potatoes are healthier than most CS meals, and are plenty big to share. The toppings bar for hamburgers is really good (they have something similar at Pecos Bill’s in Frontierland.) I love the turkey sandwich and cucumber salad for lunch. Very filling yet light on a hot day.
We visited Cosmic Rays on our last Disney Trip. The food was standard counter-service food, but I did enjoy the entertainment…that is for about 20 minutes. As a family of 5, it can sometimes take us up to an hour to eat a meal. The freaky Sonny Eclipse was funny for a few minutes, but then just got kind of boring. Also, he is not the most young-child-friendly character in the park. He is a freaky-looking alien and moves. I love Disney, but there are so many other, better places to eat in the park, especially if you have the meal plan.
We ate dinner at Cosmic Rays two times during our last visit. The food was delicious and my daughter loved watching the show. It was pretty crowded, but there were plenty of tables available.
We ended up at Cosmic Rays by accident on our trip last September. The food was great (dining plan) and more than enough. It became one of our most memorable moments because it was pouring rain outside so we were there for quite a while. Kids didn’t get bored because they had a section for coloring and hula hooping.
We do like eating here, it does seem to be one of the more crowed places though.
We’ve been to Disney 3 times now and eaten at Cosmic Ray’s during each visit, and have decided that this is not a place we want to return to. Food was not great (cold burger, so-so salads). We ate at Pecos Bill’s for the first time during our last trip and thought it was MUCH better – both in terms of food and atmosphere.
I have to say, this was not my favorite. As a single adult with two kids, one very small (my husband was back at the hotel, fighting the bronchitis that nearly took down the whole vacation), I found the multiple lines a hassle to navigate. We’re vegetarians, and there really wasn’t anything for my three year old to eat on the dining plan that wasn’t a pre-packaged pb&j. Also, the soda tastes like Disney water (it was the only time I really experienced that on the trip, which was a surprise). My sandwich was tasty, though, and certainly large enough. The terrace was awesome – and it was a lifesaver to be able to stand inside with the child afraid of fireworks while the other watched from the other side of the glass on the patio.
I love Cosmic Rays! It makes me laugh because when I went to ask my kids what they wanted for lunch, by the time I came back with it, they were both fast asleep! The best part of it was, all the items they ordered were prepackaged, like uncrustables, grapes, cookie, etc. It was super convenient to pack in my bag for when they woke up in the stroller later on in and got hungry. Loved it!
I have to laugh about this one! We really enjoy the food and the fact that you can dine in an air conditioned room. BUT, for some reason this place brings out the worst in my husband. I believe it is because there are three different lines to get in depending on what you are going to order. Hamburgers are in one line, chicken in another, etc. He just doesn’t like the chaos of it. The family joke is that we avoid Cosmic Rays like the plague because we want to keep Daddy happy! I will say that the chicken dinner is a huge bargain. It is enough for two people to enjoy.
I’ve only eaten here once. We usually eat at Pinochios beside It’s a Small World. Would always get the Figaro fries. Last year when we were at The Magic Kingdom, they no longer served Fiagro fries so we went to Cosmic Rays and bought orders of fries and then went to the condiment table and made our own Fiagro Fries.
What are Figaro Fries?
Cosmic Rays is one of my family’s favorites! We eat there every time we go to the Magic Kingdom. The atmosphere is very family friendly and it is one of the best places to beat the heat and have a moment to relax and have a great meal. The best part….on cooler days you can sit out on the terrace and have one of the best views of Cinderella’s Castle!!
Love eating at Cosmic Ray’s. Even if you are not on the dining plan it is not expensive ( we are talking Disney here) and the food is filling.
