Dining Plan:
This is a counter service restaurant. You will use 1 quick service dining credit when you eat here. You are allowed an entree, beverage and dessert on the dining plan for 1 credit.
Tip: A regular drink is automatically included with the dining plan, but you can upgrade to a large drink for FREE! You must ask for it though.
There is a ton of seating behind the restaurant. Skip the first 2 seating areas you pass. The third one (and beyond) always have a table. Also remember there are no lids at the Animal Kingdom so walking with very full sodas can lead to spills.
Meals offered:
Lunch and Dinner; Chicken, St. Louis Ribs, Pulled Pork Sandwich and more.
Mobile Ordering: Yes, this restaurant participates in mobile ordering. Allowing guests to pre-order and pre-pay for their food through the My Disney Experience App.
My experiences:
While the food is very good, I find the atmosphere to be stressful. You have to walk along rocky paths to outdoor seating where there are birds waiting to steal your food when you aren’t looking. But like I said, the food is good.

Great BBQ ribs and chicken….large portions we easily split. Ducks and birds do try to steal food. Neat eating area hidden in the trees with lots of shade. We won “guest of the hour” and they brought out free huge yummy chocolate chip Mickey cookies.
Our absolute favorite. I love walking into AK in the morning and smelling the smokers getting our lunch ready! We visit WDW 3-4 times per year and I cannot comment on any other restaurant in AK, because we love this one so much we eat here every time. The meals are plenty big enough to share, and everything is delicious. My toddler loves the kid’s meal with the drumstick, a yummy and healthy change from Uncrustables and nuggets. On a really hot day I like to get the fruit platter with honey yogurt….yummmmm.
I understand some of the frustrations surrounding the seating, but it isn’t that big of a problem to cause us to skip eating here. This is not the only place in WDW with aggressive wildlife attempting to steal your meal!
My son LOVES the Ribs here and is top on his places to eat list. I enjoyed the Turkey sandwich….And I’m not sure if the kids meals are the same, but last time we went we were able to let the 3 & 4 yr old share a kids chicken meal because it came with 2 drumsticks. :) Anyone know if they still do this?
I have to say this is probably one of the best CS places to eat at because it isn’t your typical hamburger and french fries.
I agree that the seating part isn’t the most appealing, but I find that they did it this way to keep with the Animal Kingdom feel by keeping it outdoor. Maybe they didn’t think it all the way through with the weather though?
Love Flametree and have had nothing but great experiences here! As animal lovers, we have no problem with the overly friendly wildlife – JUST DON’T FEED THEM!!
This is one of our favorites!!!!!! The best pulled pork and BBQ sauce I have ever eaten. We always make it a point to eat at Flame Tree :-)
One of our favorite restaurants! On hot days it is so pleasant to just sit and relax! The food is great and you get big servings. We have had castmembers offer to help my daughter carry her tray several times. Would highly recommend!
The food was on par with other CS at DW. If you eat there during the AK parade you can watch from the side seating area. You get a great view of the parade from above.
My boyfriend and I went the last time we were there, which was in March. As for seating, we honestly could not find a single place to sit, because it was pouring down rain so no one would sit at the tables outside of the covered areas. The food was fantastic (even though it was soggy from walking around in the rain looking for a place to sit.) We thoroughly enjoyed it (minus sitting halfway in the rain since people were just using the tables to ‘get out of the rain’ and not eating), and will definitely be going back there on future trips!
what do i think of when i think of flametree bbq? ducks and birds and squirrels invading….however, it is a nice getaway seating area and the food is really good !!!
Hands down FAVORITE CS at WDW! If it wasn’t for this and Expedition Everest we would probably skip AK.
