Don’t let your cell phone go dead either. Here are tips on staying charged in the Disney parks.
(Thanks Chip and Company!)
Another great tip is to cool off in some of the indoor shows. We love Carousel of Progress and Hall of Presidents at the Magic Kingdom. Or movies in the World Showcase at Epcot.
There are rarely long lines and it’s nice the sit and cool down for a few minutes!
But
Nothing beats a Mickey Bar!
We were there in July and my mom swears her cooling towel saved her from literally melting! Haha. They really were great, along with misting bottles. We also had frozen water bottles.
There are some neck coolers that also great. They can be difficult to find but keeps your neck cool. Every so often I use water fountains to re-wet/re-cool it and I’m ready to go again. It’s much better than a washcloth as it says wet without dripping for an hour or more (depending on heat). It’s not a comfortable idea to use those misty fans because they just end up getting you damp and in humility heat, it rarely dries and you stay damp and sticky for the day.
We go in July often, and have to deal with intense heat. This year, I have another factor to consider — I’ll be 20 weeks pregnant. The last time I went to Disney pregnant (9 weeks), I nearly passed out on two different days. (and I never nearly pass out). This year, I’m excited to try something new: a fabulous water bottle from http://www.flylady.net. I put ice water in it, and it stays icy for 16 or more hours. I’ll be able to fill it at the resort and have cold water all day, no matter where we are.
We’ve been in May a few times, and the drinks are expensive, but the water is “free”, but tastes nasty. So…..the tip we received before we went the first time was to take your own water bottle into the parks, but also pack some Kool Aid powder packets and Country Time lemonade powder packets to flavor the water and ice you can get for free!!! It worked, and the packets weigh nothing to carry around. They are sold in a box in your grocery store where they sell the Kool Aid. HTH
I live in South Florida and visit Disney often. Its great to only be 1 1/2hrs away! But to stay cool stay away from tight fitting clothes. Also, WEAR SUNSCREEN!!!! Make sure to apply it every so often. The Florida sun is VERY strong even when its cloudy and the sun isnt out! Stay cool in Epcot at the FREE Coca Cola cool off zone where you can sample different Coke products from around the world. You can hang out there as long as you want and drink as much as you like. Be careful..the one from Italy is very different and you have an aquired taste for it. Most people dont like it. Its funny to watch peoples faces lol :)
We’re at WDW now and it is HOT! I brought Camelbaks with us and they are the best ideas ever. We fill it mostly full w/ice & some water at our resort each day before leaving and water stays cool all day. The only drawback is you have to go through the bag check lines but it’s no big deal & well worth it.
We brought water bottles and filled them about 2/3 each night and put them in the freezer (we stayed in the cabins) on their side. In the morning we filled each with water which stayed VERY cold all day long and saved us the expense of paying for cold water inside the parks.
Hi all – we have gone in August a few times – HOT!! The best way I have cooled down is to wash my hands in a bathroom and then take a papertowel and wet it with the cool water and lay it on your neck, your forehead (sometimes i keep it there for a minute, my kids do too!) ..it helps for awhile. :)
