Say bird. Bird-uh.
Like Bambi and Thumper, we here at C2D love bird-uhs. A question we see a lot in the SavEars is: what Disney name should I use for my new pet? Well, those looking for a tweet name can quit pecking the internet because there are enough Disney bird names to fill the skies!
Just like when we posted about purrfect cat names and ultimutt dog names, we’re going to break this thing down a little. We’re not just talking any Disney name for your feathered friend. We’re looking at names specifically given to birds in Disney properties (movies, shows, etc). To help inspire your name choosing, we’ve gathered up our favorite Disney birds and sorted them into categories for maximum perfect fit finding.
*Quick note: there are a lot of like, background birds in Disney movies. I did not include every blue bird who flittered across screen. Mostly I stuck with birds who had speaking roles, played a major part in the plot, or that I just liked the look of. Good news for the clothes wearing birds of Cinderella, but bad news for the random chickens of Cinderella.*

Ducks in a Row
A bevy (of doves), a gaggle (of geese), a charm (of finches)…Disney birds love to show up in a flock. While you’re probably not interested in naming your parrot “Parrot” after the parrot scene in Tarzan, maybe you want to go with Tarzan or Jane. So I’ve included memorable group scenes of nameless birds to give you a little extra wind beneath your naming winds.
- The Vultures (The Jungle Book)
- Birds Who Get Fed for Tuppence (Mary Poppins)
- Penguin Waiters (Mary Poppins)

Ive had 2 birds in the past. One I named Mac-jay after some relatives and the other I named daisy because it was yellow with red cheeks. I was thinking for a name for another bird and this list really helped. I think it’s gonna be Zazu or Iago. Thanks for your help! This is awesome and I bet it took a lot of time!

We named our cockatiel “Sidney” because we it’s an anagram for Disney and we also taught him to sing (whistle) operatically whenever we say his name. (As in Finding Nemo when they say “Sydney”……and show the opera house)
