The Walt Disney World Standard Dining plan is $78.01 for an adult and it includes 2 snacks (either a drink or food), 1 quick service credit (a drink and entree) and 1 table service credit (a drink, entree and dessert). I am going to show you how to eat for less than the dining plan in the Disney resorts without the dining plan.
Here is what your day could look like:
Breakfast – Dine in your room on poptarts, oatmeal (get hot water from the coffee pot or food court), granola bars, etc. Anything that is easy and quick to eat.
Lunch – Eat at The Whispering Canyon Cafe in Wilderness Lodge. Order the All-You-Care-To-Enjoy Skillet ($24) and a soda ($3.99). Total: $27.99
Snack – Dole Whip from Polynesian Resort’s Pineapple Lanai. Total: $4.99
Dinner – Spicy Chicken Sandwich from Contempo Cafe ($11.49) with a Soda ($3.99). Total: $15.48
Grand Total: $48.48

I don’t think this makes any sense. Lunch at Wilderness Lodge…Why would you travel from Animal Kingdom to there…that will cost you 1.5-2 hours of travel time on Disney Buses. Then a hop to the Poly? for a Snack/Drink? Then why would you go to your resort for Dinner for the Pizza…even Animal Kingdom is open in the evenings now…so if you are bent on saving $10 then skip the dining plan…but doing just about any Table Service restaurant on property beat Pizza in the room, but I guess after all that you save $10.

I’m confused about the dinner suggestion: a large pizza to split among 4 people, but 1 soda? Is that to be split among the 4 people too? Or is the the large pizza for 1 person only? Either way, it doesn’t sound appetizing.

Good call! Plus a large pizza wouldn’t feed MY family of 4. And shouldn’t one have to factor in the costs of pop tarts, granola bars, etc? They aren’t free; you have to buy them from somewhere!!

What about taxes and gratuities?
