Where has the Disney fund been?
Well………. as soon as I found out that I was pregnant I knew our plans had changed. We have gone in May for the past 2 years but I don’t really want to take a 2 month old baby to Disney World when it’s hot and crowded. So we talked about it and decided to delay our trip.
Then Emily got sick and any extra money we had coming in got deferred to medical bills. But now we are ready to save, save, save!
We will be going to Disney World in November 2011. We are looking at going the week of November 14th. The crowd calendars calls for it to be one of the least crowded weeks (that will be a completely different experience!) and the weather won’t be as hot. The baby will be about 8 months old. Unfortunately I lost baby Andrew just 4 days after this post..
But we aren’t going to Disney alone. This trip we will be joined by my mother-in-law and my 17 year old nephew. We haven’t decided yet if we want to do adjoining rooms at Pop Century, a family suite at the All Stars or spring for a cabin at Ft. Wilderness. She will be paying for her portion of the trip by helping me Coupon to Disney.
So let’s get this ball rolling again…………..
$346.26 saved since June 3rd!
You can see all the previous deposits here.
Don’t forget that you can now showcase your own Disney funds via the Couponing to Disney message board! (See how to do it here.) You are more than welcome to link to your thread in the comments below!
Do the campsite!!! We love Disney in November (we do the tent thing because it is only $41.00 a night)… but there is NOTHING better then sitting outside having hot cocoa, cooking dinner and watching all the animals (owls, deers and rabbits).
We do several days of no parks.. just the camp grounds… going on walks, watching the free movie and campfire and going swimming… it is peaceful and cool in November and Very vey quite on that week… once we were one of only 5 tent people out of 32 site… can someone say…. huge hot showers…bathroom to myself many days.. GREAT time!! More than a disney trip….. a real relaxing FAMILY TIMEl!!
I am sure we will see you there :) You can come to our site for marshmellos :)
Kristen we go the the week before Thanksgiving every year and feel like we have the parks and the resort to ourself. No to mention the weather is perfect. You’ll love it! Here is a pic of just how empty the resort was last year!

You just got to get OUT of there before those Thanksgiving crowds hit. The Saturday before Thansgiving, the resort went from what you see in the picture to wall to wall people LOL
I have a question for all you Dis-nuts (like me!!!) My husband and I are looking to find the BEST credit card for accumulating airline miles without so many blackout dates. He says he would like to fly to Diz every two years (HIS words, not mine!! Haha!) Any suggestions???
You’re going to LOVE the weather! That’s about the only time my husband will visit FL (I was raised there, and my parents still reside). He’s from PA, and sweats profusely!! We’ll be in FL next year Nov. 19-27th, but we’ve chosen to take the kids to SeaWorld this time :) They have an awesome deal at the Renaissance at SeaWorl where if you book the package deal of a room including two adult SW tickets and one child ticket the room pkg is $219. Just the COST of those three tickets are about $200! So, our room is then $20! My daughter is going to be 14 then, so we’ll have to buy her an adult ticket, but that will only add $80. So, one night at the hotel RIGHT NEXT to SW, three adults and one child=$300 total! Awesome! P.S. Will pray for you all♥
We love Disney in November because of the cooler weather…though somewhat unpredicable. One day you need shorts and a t-shirt and the next you need a coat. My vote would be for adjoining rooms at Pop Century, mainly for the extra bathroom, which is very important when there are males in your family (I have 3 boys). Of course, I am kinda biased, as we stay at Pop Century at least 3-4 times a year and we LOVE it everytime. Also, the price is right. If you can get the room for around 80/night, that is only 160 for two rooms vs. the higher cost of the cabins. Of course, you have plenty of time to plan and find the best deals. I wish I could share my Florida discount with you :).
We found that November in FL is chilly in the morning (need a sweatshirt), warm in the afternoon(t-shirt/shorts), and then you’ll need that sweatshirt again in the evening :)
Sounds great! I’d recommend the suite option; we always try to get a suite when we go. The kitchen saves us a lot – we can get milk and cereal or cream cheese and bagels for breakfast and keep it in the fridge, and have cold drinks in the fridge, and stick in cold packs so we can take a cool bag to the parks. Or if we have dinner out and have leftovers, we can take a doggy bag back to the room and stick it in the fridge for late night snacking or tomorrow’s lunch or something. And frankly, having the kids in one room and us in the other means we can watch TV or talk or read or whatever after the kids have fallen asleep – great for parental sanity! ;-)
I must have missed it where you told everyone you were pregnant. Congratulations!!!!! Can I come in November with you? My anniversary is on the 15th! AND, it will be my 15th anniversary in 2011. Wow, wouldn’t that be fun? Alas, I have to plan a trip to Phoenix, AZ for my nephew’s graduation from high school. Hmmm, maybe I can get him held back for a year and come with you. LOL.
We are going to start saving in January for Disney. We plan to go in April of 2012 for our daughter’s 3rd birthday. We are so lucky the hubby works for Verizon wireless so he gets tons of great discounts, many of them better the Florida resident because Verizon is Disney’s official cell provider! But we figure if we start saving in January we will have plenty saved by then or can easily catch up at the last minute. We want to save $1,500 because my parents will be paying for a portion of our trip as a gift and we will be including my hubby’s Mom in our cost because my husband and my MIL have NEVER been so it will be a first for all. I used to go 5 or 6 times a year..
The Cabins at Fort Wilderness are awesome, IMO. We stayed there last time we went and are staying there again when we go 5/8/11-5/18/11.
They’re spacious, have a full kitchen and you don’t hear the people in the room next door since there really isn’t a room next door.
My kids loved the bunk bed and I was even able to fit a full size crib (for my then 2 year old) I rented in the bedroom.
Plus, adjoining rooms elsewhere would be 2 separate costs….my MIL decided to join us last minute and since the cabin was already paid for, she only had to pay for her park tickets and the dining plan. She paid just under $500 for a week long trip to Disney!
I took my 3 daughters to Disneyland this summer. We had fun, but my 2 year old stayed home with dad. We are planning a trip next year with the whole family when my son will enjoy it more. I can’t wait!
We always stay at Ft Wilderness in our RV. Soooooooooooooo much for the kids to do at that campground. I am saving for Nov too!!! I’ve heard that’s the time for the least amount of crowds. Can’t wait to watch your fund grow!!!!
We are going that same week next year too – we go for each kid’s fifth birthday and my middle daughter will be 5 on 11/15. Good to know that it won’t be crowded. We went in Aug ’09 (with a six month old) and it wasn’t too bad at all. I have almost $1000 in the Disney fund!
We went to Disney in 2008 the week after Thanksgiving – I love it there that time of year. The Christmas decorations are so beautiful. I am a holiday phanatic so I love being surrounded by decorations and music and all that. You are going to love going that time of year!
if any one has any information on disney they would like to share, website or personal tips, please share.
We are going to Disney in November 2011 as well. We will be there the week of Thanksgiving. We went three years ago the week of Thanksgiving and it was awesome. Perfect weather, not very crowded.
I don’t know if your situation or inclination will allow you to stay offsite but. We will be there next Aug for 2 weeks and have reserved a 4 bedrm house w/ pool for $169 a night. We have stayed there 2x before ( Oct & Sept- both $149 night). It is 2 mi from WDW, near AK and since we drive, very doable for us. We have had 6 & 7 people in the past and will have 10 part of the time this trip. This summer we did a quick visit onsite (POFQ)–very nice but it took us longer to get to the parks than when we’re offsite!
That is a great time to go. We have gone in November for the past 3 years. Unfortunately we are planning on October next year, due to school schedule, so I won’t have a chance to meet you at Disney.
We stayed in the ASMu Suite last year and loved it. My mom and son slept on the pull out couch and she said it was very comfortable. It’s the cheapest way to go for a family your size. We were going to do it again this year, but opted for just one room at Caribbean Beach, because the free dining offer was better.
I am keeping track of money for Disney now. But it’s to hopefully pay for another trip in late Feb/ early March. I have close to 600 bucks, mostly from consignment sales. So I’m hoping to book that trip soon.
We are leaving Nov. 16-20 2010. I am excited since it won’t be crowded. I have saved: $300 rebates, $332 from give a day get a day, Disney Visa $250 and $200 work earned GC. A huge savings for our family of 5. We are getting FL resident weekday passes. Next quick trip March 14 (not spring break for Dinsey but is for us)
We talking about October next year but if that time isn’t as busy and the christmas decorations are out I think we might go then to.
Any idea what the projected crowd would be for that week versus the last week in Sept/first week in October? I am scheduled to go from the very end of Sept to the very beginning of Oct. However, I’m really nervous because that will be the 40th year anniversary of Magic Kingdom in October. I’m fearing a huge increase in crowds!
I subscribe to TouringPlans.com and use their crowd calendar. It is AMAZING.
I am just starting my “Couponing to Disney” Fund titled Getting to the Mouse’s House. So to begin to this date I have 15.72, and i will be using your thread to help keep track. i hope we can go next year also, but it may not be till two years from now, but i am truly excited! I am a stay at home single mother of a special needs child so we live off a very, very tight budget, but I promised him we would get there and coupons WILL GET US THERE! You are awesome for doing this, thanks so much!8)
love the fund title
ours is mickey money
That is about the time we are talking about going now. December is our anniversary and with holidays we thought it would be better to do it before then. Can’t wait to see you fund rise again.
We just got back from the cabins at Fort Wilderness. We had such a blast. So that would be my vote. Our next Disney trip is scheduled for October 2013 unless I win another trip there. However we are currently saving for a 3-6 month RV road trip in 2 years so we may do Disney then.
Evenn with all the surprises you are still able to pay for them and make goals for future trips. Good for you.
We’re going that exact same week this year. My neighbor was there the week before Thanksgiving last year and said it is really nice, not crowded, etc. Plus, they have already put up the Christmas decorations by that time, and Mickey’s very merry Christmas party is running too. We can’t wait…….6 weeks until we leave!!
