Happy New Year!! Let us hope 2020 is better than 2021!
Do you make New Years Resolutions? I don’t typically. There are still some things I want to do for myself and my family, but you don’t have to wait until January 1st to do anything- and if you slip up on January 2nd, that doesn’t mean you have to wait a whole year to start again. So that’s my motivational speech for 2021. Don’t give up and don’t wait for a fancy date on the calendar to start getting organized, or saving for something, or whatever the case may be!
This week our stimulus checks arrived from the government. There is a lot I could do with this money- of course, what I’d love to do is throw it all at a vacation and laugh maniacally. If that’s what you want to do, more power to you! There are a lot of different scenarios out there that could change what you need to do with the money, from catching up bills or taking care of unexpected expenses, to throwing it at that dream vacation. One thing I would encourage you to do if you have any flexibility in how you’ll spend your stimulus (beyond immediate needs) is to sit down and take a look at your debts. Is there something you could pay off that would ease a financial burden for you? If this stimulus money would pay off your car and free up $200 a month in your budget, what could that do for your financial dreams? Consider checking out Kristin Cooper’s Saving For Disney course. It may be called saving for Disney, but it’s going to teach you how to save for anything- how to budget, how to track expenses, how to coupon, how to stockpile and the list goes on and on. If your goal, your resolution or whatever you want to call it is to get financially healthy, it’s a fantastic place to start- and hey, hopefully the stimulus gives you a little seed money to get started.
I got a totally unexpected class action lawsuit settlement this week! That was nice, because I don’t have a lot else going on right now. January is always a slow month for me, so expected to see my weekly average plummet!
You’ll see a huge cashout for Dabbl! That little gem came from a moneymaker game- I had to spend $4.99 in app, but I was reimbursed $36. Combined with my other points and the discount for cashing out in larger increments and I was very pleased to turn $5 into $40!

$40- Dabbl
$25- Swagbucks
