During Fall 2020, a white rhinoceros was born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park. First photos were shared of the baby boy Rhino. However, the one thing missing was his name! Today – we know the answer to this.
The youngest Rhino at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is named…Ranger! Welcome to the world, Ranger.
Kendi, mom and Dugan, dad were bred through the Species Survival Plans (SSPs) which breeds and oversees endangered species. With a near-threatened statues, white Rhinos are an endangered species. Interesting fact about mom Kendi, she was born at Animal Kingdom in 1999 and she was the very first born rhino at the park!
That’s not all the exciting news, as two other Rhinos are pregnant at the park as well! Mom Jao has a due date of Fall 2021, and mom Lola has an estimated due date of Fall-Winter 2021. Interestingly, Rhinos have a longer gestation period than us humans, at 16-18 months per pregnancy!
