So you’ve decided you want to go to Walt Disney World on vacation? How exciting! One of the first things that you need to decide when you are planning your trip is to write down what time of the year you are eligible for vacation from work and how many days you can miss. Most people vacation at Walt Disney World for 7 nights, but that might not be the best plan for your family.
If you are only allowed 7 day of vacation, you might want to plan 5 days at Disney World with a day for travel there and back. So if your vacation is a Tuesday to a Tuesday, you could travel to Walt Disney World on Tuesday, stay in your resort Tuesday – Sunday night and travel back home on Monday. That will give you 5 full days in the park plus any extra time you can squeeze in on your travel days.
If you normally work Monday – Friday, you could travel to Walt Disney World on Saturday and return home the following Saturday. That would give you 6 full days in the parks and any extra time you can squeeze in on your travel days. Plus it will allow you the Sunday before you return to work to rest and prepare for your work week.
When my husband takes a vacation, we always count his normal days off into his vacation length. He currently works 4 days and then he is off 4 days. When he takes a vacation, he actually gets 12 days off in a row. So when you are sitting down to figure out how many days you can visit Walt Disney World, make sure you include your consecutive off days on either side of your vacation.
Another dependent factor on when you can travel is when you are eligible for vacation time. Before you begin planning your trip, you need to check with your job to verify the times of the year that you are able to take off from work. Maybe you work in accounting and you know that January – April are impossible to get time off. Or you are a teacher and know you can only visit during school breaks and the summer. Maybe you are in retail and you know it is impossible to get off in November and December. Whatever your work situation, it is very important that you know when you can take off before you jump head first into planning your trip.
Once you know when you can travel and for how long, then you need to decide on the dates for your trip. Read over this article on When Is The Best Time Of The Year To Go To Walt Disney World.
