Times have changed ladies and gentlemen! Before March I was all gung ho the dining plan or nothing for Universal. It was a great value and still will be when things get back to normal. For now the dining plan is a skip for me. Below is my reasoning.
- The dining plan works primarily at Universal owned restaurants and kiosks. Currently many of those places are closed for all or part of the day. There is no rhyme or reason to this. The schedule seems to change daily. For this reason its to much stress to try and build your day around what time which restaurant is open that day.
- As part of pass holder appreciation days Power and Seasonal pass-holders get 10% off* at Universal Orlando owned and operated restaurants. While it seems small 10% is huge! Let’s say you spend $80.00 a day on all things food while in the parks. That is an $8.00 savings!
- Discounted gift cards can be a huge saver! If you watch for sales on discounted gift cards you can easily save 15 – 20% off your ticketed price. I recently got Hard Rock Cafe & Landry’s for 20% off thru Sam’s. This does take a little preplanning on your part. It is worth the effort!
