Are you planning on visit Walt Disney World in December? Here is everything you need to know about that time of the year:
Crowds
The first 2 weeks of December are some of the least crowded weeks of the whole year. However, the last 2 weeks of December are some of the most crowded weeks of the whole year. Avoid the 3-4 days leading up to Christmas all the way through the New Year if possible.
I recommend going the first 2 weeks of the month. You get to enjoy the Christmas lights and activities without having to deal with the crowds.
Weather
The average temperature throughout the month is around 73F. The average rainfall is 2 inches. Pack warm clothing and a jacket. Mittens could even be helpful.
Parks
The Magic Kingdom is open until 12 – 1 AM except for nights that have Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. On those nights, it will close at 7 pm unless you have a party ticket. On nights with Extra Magic Hours, the park will stay open as late as 2 AM. Hollywood Studios is open until 8:30 pm the first half of the month and 11:00 PM in the later part of the month. Animal Kingdom is open until 9pm or 10pm each night but they open at 8 am on mornings with Extra Magic Hours. Epcot opens at 9 am and closes at 9:30 – 10:30 PM except on days where it has Extra Magic Hours.
Events
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party takes place on select nights in December. You do have to purchase an extra ticket if you plan to attend this event.
The Disney Resorts are all decked out for Christmas. Schedule some time to browse these beautiful resorts.
