Are you planing on visiting Walt Disney World in February? Here is everything you need to know about that time of the year:
Crowds
The first week of February has typically low crowds with the weekends having heavy attendance due to the locals coming to the parks. Avoid the week of Presidents Day unless you plan to participate in the Princess Half Weekend. Both bring heavy crowds to the parks. The last week in February has another drop in crowds although it won’t be as quiet as the first week.
The best time in February to visit is the last full week of the month.
Due to the low crowds, Fastpass+ reservations for popular attractions will be easier to come by. ADRs will also be available closer to the time you visit instead of being booked months in advance. It is a great time of the year to make a last minute trip.
Weather
February can get chilly in Florida. I recommend that you pack a light jacket, socks and shoes (no sandals), and bring a light blanket to drape over your legs as you wait for parades and shows.
Parks
The Magic Kingdom stays open until at least 9 pm every night, but is often open until 10-1 am. During Presidents week and the Princess Half Marathon, it will open at a 8 am. Animal Kingdom sees close times of 9 pm – 10 pm. Hollywood Studios also has extended their close times during the crowded time of the month.
There will be minimal ride closures. Splash Mountain is usually closed for all of January for refurbishment but usually opens by the end of January.
Typhoon Lagoon waterpark is normally closed for their refurbishment during this time of the year.
Events
The first week of the month is cheer nationals at ESPN. They will occupy most of the All Star Resorts and will spill over into Pop Century and maybe even Art of Animation.
The Princess Half Marathon takes place on the third weekend of the month. It has the Princes Half Marathon, Enchanted 10k, Glass Slipper Challenge, Disney Princess 5k and runDisney Kids Races. It does bring in heavy crowds and spill over into the parks.
Festival of the Arts – is a celebration of food, art and entertainment perfectly blended together. Guests can look forward to art displays, specialty foods and special photo opportunities. It debuted in 2017 and typically runs mid-January through mid-February.
