Recently we learned we are saying goodbye to The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra. Now we know a total of nearly 28,000 domestic employees of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products have received layoff news.
One of which being, Yehaa Bob Jackson, a household name at River Roost Lounge at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort. He had the audience singing along to Disney music, classic songs and enjoying his piano playing. It’s hard not to laugh at the jokes as well. Sadly, his act will not be returning to Disney after 23 years. Yehaa Bob had this to say on social media:
“And that’s how it ends, not with a bang but with a whimper. I’ve just learned my act will not be returning to Disney. I made so many friends over the last 23 years, it was a great time, we had a lot of laughs together. I’ll be continuing my (virtual Facebook) Sunday shows for now. I’ll keep you posted, I’m still digesting all of this.”
Cast members were alerted on September 29th with the heartbreaking news of the lay offs from a released statement by Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. He had said it was a very difficult decision to reduce the workforce and many factors played into this decision.
