In an ideal world everyone would be able to visit Disney World at a low crowd level time. However, some just can not take the time off work or whichever the case may be and holidays, school vacations, etc. are the only times to go. Other events can occur too, RunDisney events, school and sporting events will also increase crowds. If you are visiting during one of the busier times of the year at Disney World, do not worry as there is enough magic to spread around and plenty to do. Consider the best 15 things to do at Magic Kingdom when its crowded.
1. Carousel of Progress
The Carousel of Progress, in Tomorrowland, is an original park opening ride, making it a classic. It is also special since Walt Disney himself had hands in the creation. This attraction seats many guests at once, getting you out of the crowds and into AC for 21 minutes on a journey through the 20th century and the impact of technology.
2. Hall of Presidents
Travel to Liberty Square to find the Hall of Presidents. This indoor attraction features Audio-Animatronic figures of the Presidents of The United States with a presentation of American History. This attraction houses 700 seats making it a short wait attraction.
3. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade
Tucked in Frontierland, is the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade. This attraction is great for all ages and usually has an open spot for testing your target skills. Bring your quarters to try your luck at 100 interactive targets, 1 credit is $0.50 (2 Quarters). There is a change machine as well, 1 credit gives a guest about 25 shots.
4. Prince Charming Regal Carrousel
Prince Charming Regal Carrousel in Fantasyland is a large Carrousel. Lines for this ride move quickly. Be sure to look for Cinderella’s Horse with the golden ribbon on its tail.
5. Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak
Take a walk or jump around Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak in Fantasyland. With plenty of areas within this attraction to cool off for a few minutes with squirting elephants, giraffes and more.
6. Dumbo
If you have children, Dumbo is a great attraction to ride because of the interactive queue that allows children to play, indoors, while they wait. Even if not traveling with children, Dumbo is still an excellent choice since there is not just one, but two of this attraction!
7. Walt Disney World Railroad – Main Street, U.S.A.
Head to Magic Kingdom and just not sure where to start? Taking a ride around the Walt Disney World Railroad – Main Street, U.S.A. train ride is great to get your bearings. This train ride is also a great break from the crowds. Stay on the entire loop (about 20 minutes) and admire a complete circle around Magic Kingdom.
8. Citizens of Main Street
The Citizens of Main Street love to have fun. Watch them sing, dance and even pose for pictures. They are easy to spot, dressed in the best 20th-century clothing. The Mayor, the Socialite, the Suffragette and the Fire Chief love to mingle with guests.
9. Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom
Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom allows guests of all ages to cast Merlin’s spells and battle Villains (everywhere except Tomorrowland). Start your adventure at the Fire Dept. on Main St U.S.A. Plus, get a card to keep. This interactive opportunity is at your own pace, so crowd levels have no effect.
10. Use Fastpass+ Selections
Plan ahead for your Fastpass+ selections (60 days out for Resort guests and 30 days out for non-resort guests). You are allowed to pre-select 3 per day. This means having 3 attractions/rides/meet & greets you can accomplish with little to no wait. Once these are use, guests then eligible to select another Fastpass+, use and repeat! Fastpass+ are a great tool to utilize on your Disney vacation, especially when crowded. Consider these Fastpass+ Selections For Magic Kingdom.
11. Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room
Another attraction that holds many guests with low wait times is Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. Grab a treat and watch this 10-minute show in Adventureland with tropical birds and more.
12. Country Bear Jamboree
Country Bear Jamboree is a country-and-western show full of laughs with singing bears. Many guests choose to pass by this attraction in Frontierland, so if you find it crowded duck in here for a good time. Great for all ages.
13. Liberty Square Riverboat
Float on by Liberty Square on the Liberty Square Riverboat. Enjoy a scenic view of Rivers of America cruising on a Colonial-American inspired steam powered riverboat. With 4 decks to choose from, there is plenty of room for guests with 4 decks to choose from.
14. Transit Authority PeopleMover
The Transit Authority PeopleMover found in Tomorrowland is perfect for people watching from up above, away from the crowds. Enjoy this relaxing 10-minute ride.
15. Avoid The Afternoon Crowds
One way to conquer the crowds is to avoid them. Accomplish this by getting to Magic Kingdom early or stay late. Even when it is a seasonably high level crowds, getting to the park at “rope-drop” still has its advantages. Another option for morning and evening, is Extra Magic Hours. These specific hours, prior to park opening or after park closing, entitle Disney Resort Guests only to be at the park hosting the Extra Magic Hours.
