Over the last couple of years, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort has completed an expansion. This included the addition of a brand new 15-story Gran Destino Tower, which became the new main entry point and 2-story lobby of the Resort and adding 545 rooms for guests (includes 50 suites). Today we are discussing 4 reasons why we enjoy this Resort and 2 reasons we dislike it.

Rooms were recently updated. The resorts existing 1,800+ rooms were updated as part of the 2019 expansion. The theme of this Resort is inspired by classic Spanish influences. Each room received new lights and fixtures. Plus, furnishings were also updated for a more comfortable stay!
There are some great dining options on site. At the top of the Gran Destino Tower, find Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood for a rooftop dining experience with incredible views. Plus, at Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood guests will find a Character dining opportunity! Relax at Rix Sports Bar & Grill playing nightly sports games on their 31 TVs! Other eateries on site include Three Bridges bar & grill, Maya Grill, a food court, lounges and a pool side bar.
The Resort grounds are beautiful. A morning or evening stroll is the perfect way to start or end your day. Enjoy views of Lago Dorado, the 14 acre lake adjacent to this resort. Relax in a hammock, walk the pathways and gaze at the water fountains.
The pool is top notch. Most known for its 50 ft pyramid in the center is the Lost City of Cibola pool, featuring a 123 foot long waterslide! Watch out for the spitting Jaguar! This area also hosts the largest hot tub on Disney World property. There are also 3 leisure pools located on site for a peaceful swim.
This resort is huge, which means spread out and walking involved. The latter will depend on your room location, if your room is not near the food court or main pool, the walk can be noticeable. For example, the Ranchos area is a hike to the food court, as experienced by a past guest.

@Disney
During normal operations, Coronado Springs Resort is a convention center. This means business professionals on site. Not too big of a deal, however when you are dressed in Disney vacation attire it can be strange to see guests in suits walking by. It can break the Disney bubble which makes this a dislike.
