There are currently five boat rides in the Walt Disney World parks. When Avatarland and the update to the former Maelstrom attraction reopens with a Frozen theme, there will be seven. If your kids love boats like mine do, you’ll enjoy this ranking of the 5 best boat rides in Walt Disney World.
5. Living with the Land – Located in Epcot, this slow boat ride takes you through the greenhouses of The Land Pavilion where they grow food for the Epcot restaurants. This is a very education ride and it includes a number of Hidden Mickeys.
4. Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros – Located inside the pyramid in the Mexico Pavilion, this ride features the characters from Disney’s 1944 The Three Caballeros. You board a boat that navigates between the Mayan pyramid and the San Angel Inn restaurant and on into the Three Caballeros story. The 3 of them were scheduled to perform at a fiesta, but of course Donald has gone missing. Throughout the ride, Panchito and Jose try to locate Donald so that they can perform together in Mexico city at end of the ride.
3. Jungle Cruise – This boat ride will take you on a exotic cruise through the Amazon in South America, The African Congo, The Nile River and The Mekong River. Along the way, you’ll spot hippos, elephants, snakes and other creatures as you cruise by their natural habitats. So sit back and enjoy the skippers tales as you make this 10 minute journey around the world.
2. It’s A Small World – One of the most classic rides in all of Walt Disney World. Originally built with the support of UNICEF for the 1964-1965 World’s Fair, you will now find this attraction at all of the Disney Resorts around the world. We all know this classic tune and can sing along with the almost 300 traditional dolls as you enjoy the 10 minute journey through a rainbow of diverse cultures from around the world and all 7 continents.
1. Pirates of the Caribbean – A 9 minute boat ride through the 17th century when Pirates plundered seaport towns. Your boat will travel through the Pirate’s Grotto which is home to the Dead Man’s Cove, The Fort where you will be in the middle of a battle between the Caribbean Fort and Captain Barbossa, the Town Square where pirates try to auction off the fair maddens, the Burning City where the buccaneers sing as the city goes down in the flames, the Dungeon where pirates try to convince the dog to give over the keys to set them free and finally Jack Sparrow celebrating in the treasure room. This attraction was so popular and well loved that it spawned the Pirates of the Caribbean film series.
